The Covid Counter Fraud Commissioner Tom Hayhoe will say fraudsters exploited a "golden opportunity" when he shares his findings with MPs this week, the BBC understands.

A lack of anti-fraud controls in Covid schemes that were set up quickly by ministers in Boris Johnson's government are expected to be highlighted in the report and blamed for the huge figure.

The shambolic Johnson presided over the whole sorry mess and walked away scot free. What an utter disaster this man was as Prime Minister. I sincerely hope we all remember, next time we vote, when the public got taken in by a man who was all talk and absolutely no substance!

The really, really annoying thing is that we all knew it was happening and called it out at the time but nothing was done. The arrogance and entitlement of these people leaves you breathless, but I do think that democracy is undermined when members of parliament play fast and loose with acceptable behaviour.
