Vito The Australian police declared it a terror attack on a Jewish group, who else but Islamist extremists would do that?
So we do know.

We don’t know, not yet. It would however be more shocking if it were not Islamic extremists, because it would be unexpected.

Who else hates Jews so much?

Nobody that we know of, which is why it would be unexpected. However, the unexpected often turns out to be the case, for example recently when Charlie Kirk was killed.

BlueBelle Sun 14-Dec-25 16:12:40

That was totally unnecessary Oreo

Apparently one gunman has been named and is a Pakistani immigrant from Lahore.

Well there we are!

Vito
Nope I haven't heard anything about it being an Islamic terrorist act. As for the comment about the men being Eastern looking, so it must be an Islamist terror act, words fail me.
This is just the sort of rhetoric that causes hate and division, and I for one am sick of it.
Wait until we know before piling in with your own vitriol and poison

No. What causes hate and division is Islamic terrorists slaughtering innocent people in the name of their twisted ideology.

Horrendous news. what should have been a lovely, peaceful celebration has been turned into an awful tragedy.

Please correct me if I am wrong but my understanding was that there is no established link with Islamic, antisemitic terrorism so far. Of course that does not rule it out at this stage.

There is live coverage on the BBC News website.

Seriously!!!!!!

When Middle Eastern looking men are shooting at Jews celebrating a Jewish festival, I think it’s safe to say it’s Islamists.

FYO At the time I first came across the news on the BBC website no descriptions of the gunmen had been released and I was careful to add that Islamic terrorism had not been ruled out.

CarS Sun 14-Dec-25 13:47:56

I think the world is finally waking up to the Islamist threat. Our weakness is their strength.

AGAA4 Sun 14-Dec-25 13:41:15

I don't understand hate especially this level of hate that focuses on certain groups of people and wants to kill them.
Why can't we accept each other. We are all human beings. Despising someone because of religion, race or anything that is different to ourselves is beyond my comprehension.
My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones today 🥀

It is just horrendous.
I don't want to be one of those who try to look for the good in this, I am endlessly tired of the platitudes that follow these events, but it does look there were some incredible acts of bravery.

I don’t understand your comment Galaxy? I don’t see how there could ever possibly be any good in innocent people being murdered, and hundreds of other innocent people witnessing such a barbaric act.

vegansrock Sun 14-Dec-25 13:23:13

Maybe we shouldn’t allow those marches that are basically a cover for antisemitism.

surfsup Sun 14-Dec-25 12:33:05

I’m afraid if I had been that brave man that crept up behind one gunman and disarmed him and pointed his own gun at him I would have fired and to hell with the consequences.

The cowardly gunman was begging him not to shoot. One attacker dead, the other critical. 10 victims dead and 26 injured.

Truly appalling. I feel for Jews all over the world that they are subjected to this terror wherever they are.

BlueBelle Sun 14-Dec-25 12:25:48

My grandaughter who is travelling had just left that area
I feel so so sorry for anyone, any colour, any religion, that is caught up in such hatred, such violence.
Why can’t we all get on, or not get on if necessary but in peace what is wrong with people that have to kill why not ignore
Brings me to tears

TerriBull Sun 14-Dec-25 12:14:56

It's incredibly sad that Jewish people are increasingly living in fear going about their daily lives. Celebrating important religious days in their calendar and feeling their places of worship are under threat. This latest attack is horrific. I can never understand what drives such people along to randomly kill complete strangers, whatever their cause. It's so unjustified, just so barbaric.

Galaxy Sun 14-Dec-25 11:54:57

He was incredible, I can't believe it watching him. I am incredibly naive I think, the size of the gun made me feel sick. Those poor people.

Sandrina Sun 14-Dec-25 11:44:31

I agree, I wish the same, it's a sad day for everyone.

Moonwatcher1904 Sun 14-Dec-25 11:42:05

Quite agree Sarnia. It's a sad world we live in now. My 2 daughters are in their 40's and neither have children. I'm so glad. I feel sad for children growing up this world nowadays.

Oreo Sun 14-Dec-25 11:37:23

Yes it is Sarnia and your comments are spot on👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a brave bystander that disarmed one of them.

Sarnia Sun 14-Dec-25 11:32:03

I despair at times, I really do. History tells us that nothing is achieved through hatred and conflict but there are those who keep on trying, right up to the present day.
Why on earth can't we be accepting of others and live in peace? What a wonderful world it would be if those with such loathing in their hearts and minds could turn that around to do good for their country. A very sad day for the Jews and Australia as a whole.

Grandma70s Sun 14-Dec-25 11:27:42

Allira

Yes, of course.

I read that one brave bystander managed to wrestle the rifle from one of the gunmen.

I saw this happen, watching on television.

I have such happy memories of Bondi beach. My son had his first paddle there. I just can’t imagine it as a scene of violence.

Appalling hateful act full or warped driven spite, targeting the innocent. As usual!
