This topic has been discussed on the thread calling for a ban on fireworks. I'm not saying that this thread is unnecessary. I just mention it because I wouldn't like folks to think that this tragedy has been ignored on 'Gnet.

I am amazed at the apparent laxness of the Swiss in allowing this death trap of a club to trade. Surely they must have a set of standards to be met in places of public socialising? Like adequate fire exits, overhead sprinklers and limits on numbers?

This Christmas period seems to have been full of tragedies, in the UK and abroad. I feel devastated for all those whose festive season has been so dreadfully cut short.

My sister celebrated her birthday two weeks ago and I was shocked to see photos of the same sparklers stuck in a cake and being carried into a restaurant. I thought it looked extremely dangerous. This was not in the UK.

Such a tragedy. All those young people celebrating the end of a year and looking forward to 2026. So very sad. Poor families. How on earth do you recover from this?

The owners of the bar Jacques and Jessica Moretti are being investigated on suspicion of manslaughter by negligence, bodily harm by negligence, and arson by negligence.

How awful was the fire in the night club on New year's eve, the victims so young. My heart goes out to all of the relatives. There needs to be a massive investigation, why where sparklers allowed, where were the people in charge, bar managers , security etc?
