Newsnight gone downhill

I watched Newsnight on BBC2 for years for its investigative projects, analysis and discussion of current affairs but I do feel it's deteriorated since they shortened it and stopped doing their own investigations. Emily Maitliss was a mainstay but she's gone. Now we have a miscellany of pundits, ex-MPs, journalists, failed politicians and even comedians who often add little to the news of the day and talk over each other so one can't hear what each has to say. That's usually caused by poor chairing by the host. I'm beginning to switch off.

Chanel Four News has long been our “go to” choice for in- depth coverage of events.
I agree that Newsnight is a shadow of its’ former self. I still miss the weekly Newsnight Review also. I presume the shrinking format is about cost cutting.

I must confess I haven't watched it for a long time.
