Woman shot and killed by ICE in Minnesota- potential legal action and outcome of investigation.

Rennee Good's family lawyers have now released the results of an independent autopsy, showing three gunshot wounds. She was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said at the time the agent opened fire after Good tried to ram officers with her vehicle.

The DHS has not yet published the outcome of its investigation. We await details of what legal action Good's family lawyers may take against DHS. This thread has been started as the previous thread comes towards its 1000 post end to discuss the aftermath, impact and repercussions.

The day after Renee Good was murdered, agent shot 2 people in Portland. There was never much about it because the agents didn't wear body cameras and, so far, no bystander video had been seen.

It was the same tired trope. They were dangerous gang members who tried to run them over.

Information is finally coming out.

"But court records obtained by the Guardian reveal a Department of Justice prosecutor later directly contradicted DHS’ Tren de Aragua statements in court, telling a judge, “We’re not suggesting … [Niño-Moncada] is a gang member.” An FBI affidavit issued following the incident also suggests that in the previous shooting cited by DHS, Zambrano-Contreras was not a suspect, but rather a reported victim of a sexual assault and robbery. Neither Niño-Moncada or Zambrano-Contreras have prior criminal convictions, their lawyers have said."

They were told to wear body cams months ago. Congress even set aside money IIRC.

And now the ICE agents have been told to wear bodycams.

Thank goodness someone with power is thinking that way, documenting it, and so, preparing for action to be taken to achieve justice.

"The federal agents led by an ICE officer who surrounded and fatally shot Renee Good in Minneapolis last month appear to have violated the agency’s policies regarding the use of force during nearly every step of the encounter, according to internal documents obtained by HuffPost."

Pretti's death has been ruled a homicide by the Coroner. We all knew that because we have eyes, but it is on official documents now.

Here is information on it here in the US. I have no idea if it different here, but can't imagine it would be much different.

They have so far Maremia. And there are Republicans who voted to shut it down as well. There seems to be quite a bit of backlash about these files among Republicans that I can see from my end.

Do I think this will take him down? No. If nothing else, MAGA appears to be holding on to the delusion that Trump is doing what is best for them, so they are OK with some "bad" things happening of that means they get what they want, IMO.

Will the Dems succeed in blocking that money input to ICE?

Maremia Mon 02-Feb-26 16:48:18

Trying to follow what is happening with the government shutdown, but there are confusing reports.

It's only fair that they should be named. They are supposed to be public servants, and it has been so wrong that any of them were allowed to hide from scrutiny.

ProPublica identified the officers who killed Pretti. Their article and statement from the Editor.

Amazing visual isn't it? I'm going to see if I can find the 2024 one to compare.

Really good news to see the Democratic candidate's success in Texas- let's hope the tide will continue to turn in other traditionally republican states.

Maremia Sun 01-Feb-26 15:52:18

That is an amazing turnaround in Texas, of all places.
Also, yes WhiteWave, wonderful to see that wee boy being freed, although his status is still not secure. 👏

Wwm, did you see what the judge said to them? He quoted Thomas Jefferson and the Bible in his order.

They have lost their upper hand and we are resisting. cafe

Yes I did. It was a good speech.

Let's keep this momentum.

This isn't good for Republicans is it?

grin

Chocolatelovinggran Sun 01-Feb-26 12:26:55

Goodness, WWM- maybe changes are coming . I didn't have Texas turning blue on my bingo card!

Whitewavemark2 Sun 01-Feb-26 10:10:15

Ruby red constituency in Texas gone blue!!

People have had it with Trump.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 01-Feb-26 10:09:23

Just listened to the judge’s summing up of Trumps behaviour and reasons for the release of the child and his father.

Really, really worth a listen - on YouTube - Bryan Tyler Cohen.

The article about the woman’s arrest is somewhat troubling, as it suggests that the police are not being proactive in protecting the citizens for which it is responsible.

Thank you for continuing the reporting, appreciated.

Must be this one. How strange that all these migrants keep running their own heads into walls and hurting themselves. /s
