Trump posts racist video of the Obamas

How do I equate it? I don’t. The historical context (which I’m positive both the author of the video and Trump are well aware of) is completely different.

Can you actually not see that? Or are you just fighting your point? Because if you can’t, I’m actually slightly concerned for you.

Each animal depicted was I expect chosen for the characteristics of each person as thought of by whoever made it.
Monkeys can be troublesome, an ape a slower moving creature and both are used as insults ( think…you big ape! Or you cheeky monkeys!) If Biden had been black or mixed race too then I would have thought it was racism. As it is I think it was simply insulting.
I try not to rush to be a sheeple where cries of racism or anything else is mentioned.

That’s not on, regardless of what he thinks of former politicians.

Because Orio, a white man or woman being shown as an ape eating a banana has no historical links to being racist, whereas likening a person of colour to a monkey does.

Trump didn’t make this but as it makes fun of various Democrats it was stupid of him to re show it on Truth Social.
But then he is pretty stupid so par for the course.
In the long list of his decisions this one comes in as the less worrying for the world.

It is surprising, to me anyway, that a supposedly advanced civilisation like the USA has never had a woman President.

It shows that ( in case anyone needs reminding) that they aren’t as socially advanced as we are.

Obama was from the American middle classes, which to many people especially black and mixed race was a privileged lifestyle.His mother was an anthropologist and his father I think an economist.
Not as traditionally wealthy as many past Presidents but became very wealthy from his own profession and his wife also.You have to be, to run for President it’s a great flaw in their politics.

He and his wife had privileged upbringings.If they had any sense they would just ignore silly animal memes, which am sure they did at the time.

Trump is an idiot but don’t worry about the small stuff, there’s plenty of big stuff to worry about.

Obama wasn't from a privileged background. Not an impoverished one but he is from a single-parent family, certainly not wealthy.

I am Jewish and having had family who didn’t make it after being sent to Treblinka I would find antisemitic pictures of rats or graffiti highly offensive.

It isn’t just the blatant racism, it is the innuendo which we all recognise as racist, but when challenged the nasty perpetrator hasn’t the guts to admit his/her racist rhetoric, but denies that that is what it meant.

This is Trump’s MO he says or does something despicable and then either backtracks or denies it. Is similar to abuse inasmuch as the perpetrator does something terrible then denies it happened and gaslights the victim or backs off until the next time.
