Surely some nursery staff had their suspicions or knew what was happening!!! Is this another case of not blowing the whistle or were the managers refusing to acknowledge?

These two cases are truly appalling, the vulnerability of children too young to express in words that they've been assaulted is heartbreaking.

A few years ago in Plymouth, some may remember the case, a female nursery worker was found guilty of sexually assaulting babies, toddlers and making films of those assaults to pass on to a paedophile. I've always wondered why there aren't monitoring cameras in nurseries. Not only for acts of depravity but acts of wilful cruelty too.

And yet yesterday posters were telling ‘funny stories” about their granddaughters and their ‘fro fros” on an open Internet forum for paedophiles to access freely, fantasise over, embellish and pass on to their friends. And then many of them will go off to work with access to children and those pictures in their minds.

Some are excited by pictures, some by words.

Any warning or protest was deleted by Gransnet and many said the protests were prudish.

If a story about your granddaughter is up there for Gods sake get it taken down- though it’s probably too late now.

Me, Im sickened that those stories are still up there, side by side with this thread. Report this if you like and get it deleted like the warnings yesterday.

How could a child go home with a black eye and the nursery not explain what happene? How did he get the opportunity to assault these little sweethearts. Surely staff members were in evidence or were they short staffed? If so the ratio of adults to children had not been adhered to.

I know what I would like to see done to that vile creature.

Bennett has not yet been sentenced for his crimes so it will be interesting to see how his sentence compares.

Men with such depraved, and I will use the word ‘evil’, sexual appetites, are a danger to society and must never be released, not matter how many years have passed, because I don’t believe such appetites will disappear no matter how the perpetrator may appear to have been rehabilitated.
And nothing can compensate the victims and their families who must live with the dreadful repercussions of what these men have done.

I don’t think it’s a controversial opinion at all - there will always be some cases where that opinion would be shared by many I think and this is certainly one of them.

I find that incredible too.

Parents' concerns about signs of physical abuse, scratches, a black eye etc in one case were dismissed by the nursery, apparently. Why did none of the other nursery staff suspect anything?

It was reported 18 years and he was sentenced to a further eight years on extended licence.

In total his offences spanned from 2008 to 2024 and his victims ranged in age from two to a woman in her 70s.

Indeed - I expect that’s why some of the parents are going to sue the nursery company. It seems incredible

What I’d really like to add to the conversation would probably be removed so I won’t. Suffice to say it’s utterly shocking and upsetting there are people like this man walking around among us.

The likelyhood of reoffending in cases like these is off the scale.

I had a period of time when I worked with a social worker ( not in a social work setting) and two things she said always stayed with me - firstly what you posted and secondly ‘wherever there are children there are paedophiles’

Am afraid re-offending is very high with sex offenders, unless he is chemically castrated I doubt he will change.

Sone people are just evil, I hate to say it but is true, they are wired up differently and need to be locked away and never let out.

The Nathan Bennett case was chilling. I notice the nursery has since closed. The sense of betrayal by the parents, and the guilt felt by the other nursery workers must be overwhelming.
