I always feel sorry for royal children of school age whenever something ‘big’ hits the headlines. Their teachers will also find it a challenging time when they return after half term.

I agree. Andrew has been shielded by the Royal family for years.
They have had no option but to distance themselves from him now. They can't afford any more scandal.

You're right Tulpiptree, the arrest is about misconduct in his role as Trade Envoy; not about allegations made by VG.

Do you honestly think the late Q and C didn’t know why he was sacked as trade envoy? And if they didn’t, that was a massive failure of their duties.

Can’t help feeling sorry for Charles. I don’t imagine he thought that during his time as Monarch he would firstly get a cancer diagnosis and secondly have a mega Royal scandal on his hands regarding his younger brother, and all occurring whilst his younger son Harry is still estranged.
Not an easy load for him to shoulder at his age.

Well that’s a problem arising from an hereditary head of state - he could have abdicated if he’s not up to it. But then he’d waited so long because the late Q wouldn't abdicate either . Reaping and sowing

The royal family, especially the late queen and Charles have been complicit in covering up for AMW over many, many years. They, as well as successive governments, have known full well what he’s been up to.

I’m glad however I do think our wonderful late Queen is part of the problem that created an arrogant, entitled and very spoiled man who considered himself totally above the law, a royal Trump!

The police must be pretty sure of the evidence. There is no way I assume that they would arrest the King’s brother if they were not convinced of his guilt?

We should be careful about our language. The police clearly believe they have sufficient grounds for an arrest and have been granted search warrants. Having investigated further if they think there’s sufficient evidence for charging him, they’ll pass the case papers to the CPS to decide.

It seems he did supply Epstein a commentary on his confidential work, what happens depends what material he supplied Epstein with. How could he be so stupid to give market sensitive material to anyone.

Prison maybe, community service sweeping the streets would be more fitting. We have discussed humiliation in the schools thread.

To have arrested him so publicly the police and CPS must have shedloads of evidence to have taken this step.

It’s his victims and his poor daughters whom I pity, not him and not his ex-wife, whom I actually quite like. They are both abhorrent.

This is nothing to do with JE’s victims. The arrest is to do with his sending secret and confidential information to JE ( and possibly others). If anyone’s the victims in this scenario it’s us. He was in public office on behalf of us
