BBC is reporting that PM has been arrested on misconduct in public office offences

I do like to see people at functions, looking their best and wearing beautiful clothes and jewellery, but they have put themselves out there to be looked at then - and I do love clothes and jewellery I’m afraid.
I would enjoy being at a function all dressed up but not going to look at other people dressed up and me looking on

Both of those things are fine though, interest ad disinterest.
I do think one of the strongest arguments for abolishing the royal family though is what it does to the family themselves.
And I think it’s what the institution of the RF does to society - deference, belief in better than because of birth, unearned privilege, inequality before the law, and so on.
The big question for me is Who Is Next?
Lets wait and see.

Time for some high profile Americans to be investigated?
They arrested Mandelson so they could confiscate his passport as he was planning to leave the country
Shameful behaviour and makes people start to wonder if there are many others in high places who have no sense of duty loyalty or decency to anything or anyone.
Lordy, I just had a quick peep at that interview and it makes your toes curl. He was so unwise to do it. Knowing what we know now means that every word becomes more significant, and of course once a lie has been discovered then you have the possibility that everything he said was a lie. A person only has to lie once and you cannot trust anything they say.

His doing the interview demonstrated beautifully his astonishing sense of entitlement, his belief that he had the right to lie on national TV and that his family would continue to protect him despite everything. Well he wasn’t wrong for quite a few years was he? Oh yes and it also proved just how basically stupid really stupid he is.
The title of the thread: Peter Mandelson arrested.
Yet still those who whilst expressing disgust at the press for camping outside Mandelson' s home, continue to extract every possible source to discredit the disgraced Andrew, to the extent of exhuming his disastrous interview to gloat over.
Never watched it, never will.
If you look on the concurrent Andrew thread eazybee you’ll see that people, including yourself, are talking about Mandelson on there too. I think the two are inextricably linked because they are both accused of the same crime, at the same time, for essentially the same reason, so it isn’t avoidable.

Exhume - really? It’s absolutely nowhere near dead snd butied. It’s alive and kicking. It goes to his credibility absolutely. Quite frankly, if you haven’t seen it, you are in no position to comment on A. Watching it - and remember he did it of his own free basically tells us all we need to know about him - and it ain’t pretty
I am not commenting on it.
I am commenting on the sort of people who want to watch it.
But aren’t they the same sort of people who want to watch Mandelson arrested, or anybody for that matter, being publicly humiliated? I think if anything is in the public arena, there will be people who watch it, particularly if it reinforces their own views.
What is the motivation for not watching the Maitliss interview? I watched it when first released out of interest. To say I was shocked by AMW’s lack of self awareness would be an understatement.

Of course some of them will be the same people. I watched it because it was clearly an important interview and I wanted to hear and see him being interviewed myself rather than reading about it through the prism of others. I’ve watched lots of interviews over the years. Watching the whole thing is like watching the whole football match rather than the highlights on MOTD

Oooooo- the sort of people who watch it?
Disclaimer and apology - I tried to separate between the AMW post and PM's post but was asked process question relating to PM in this post that I had already given in AMW post and cut and pasted across. I agree they have become inextricably linked- possibly because of different police processes by different police forces but all related to Epstein- the common denominator. Easybee- comment or don't comment as you wish.
I agree AMW's Panorama interview is nowhere near dead and buried. It may well have already been used as an exhibit in AMW's police interview last week. It is also likely to be an exhibit if and when the case comes to court- it is gold standard verbatim evidence.
On the programme AMW was asked did he have any sense of guilt about his friendship with Epstein- he responded- his "association" with Epstein - " had some seriously beneficial outcomes" EG. Police- Please explain the nature of those beneficial outcomes? Please outline the nature of your "association" with Epstein. When asked about going to Epstein's NY home to end the relationship: 'it was a convenient place to stay...it was the "honourable and right thing to do" my judgement is coloured by my tendency to be "too honourable". Please outline the expectations of your trade envoy role? Was there an expectation that you behave honourably in that role? If not why not? etc etc.
AMW said he had no contact at all with Epstein from that day forward. Yet there is documentary evidence that he remained in contact- Q- why did you lie on camera? AMW described Epstein's house as a "railway station, people going in and out all the time...If you are a person like me people behave in a subtly different way. I live in an institution, Buckingham Palace, lots of people walking around all the time,- as far as I could tell they were staff"...."I was a patron for the NSPCC Full Stop Campaign, so I knew what things to look for and I never saw anything suspicious". Q- what "things" were you looking for? etc etc.
Easybee: "I am commenting on the sort of people who want to watch it".
I would expect the police, CPS and AMW's own legal representatives have recently wanted to watch it refresh their memories on what AMW actually said......

But the interview gives everyone the chance to see the man facing the camera and answering a lot of searching questions. His answers provide such damning evidence and a basis for asking many more questions. There is no doubt the Police will use what he said in the interview. Emily Maitlis has done half their work for them. It's in all our interests to watch the interview, even my daughter watched it and she has zero interest in politics.

Well the tip off was apparently that he was going to flee to the British Virgin Islands. I think someone has already posted that we have an extradition treaty with them …….
It is not the sort of thing I want to watch, any more than I wanted to listen to Boris having a row with Carrie which someone thoughtfully recorded and posted on the internet. I never watched Charles, switched on halfway through Diana by accident and was disgusted, and I avoid these things as they do no-one any good.

Well it is for some clearly …..
It was interesting to read PM's pushback to Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) for arresting him and subjecting him to bail, "despite" previously agreeing to a Voluntary Interview, via his lawyer's statement last night. Typical of his cunning, aggressive, dominant style and history. The arrest was, they said, "prompted by a baseless suggestion he was planning to leave the country". The asked the MPS for "the evidence relied on to justify the arrest". Quite an aggressive line to take and again form for PM. MPS made no statement in response.....
We now know PM has appointed Mischon and Reya to represent him- famously known (many consider the best and most expensive in the buisness) for handling high profile litigation, divorce and reputation management cases- Princess Diana, Ruth Ellis, Prince William, Lady Gaga, Gordon Ramsey and Gian Miller feature amongst their well known clients.
Then about 3 hours ago- the Commons Speaker Sir Lyndsey Hoyle made a statement he had passed information to MPS " in good faith as is my duty" and "to prevent an inaccurate speculation".
That took the winds out of Mischon and Reya and PM's aggressive opening gambit somewhat.
