I woke up at some time in the night and it was being broadcast ( I go to sleep with the radio on) . It was strangely comforting in its familiar utter appallingness and I soon drifted back to sleep

Imaround, my heart goes out to you being stuck with this fool and his sycophantic entourage.

Are the republicans stuck in The Emperors new clothes mode? Are they being paid to lie?
The Guardian had a number of analyses on it. There was a report that the Somali born Democrats shouted out when he lied and then left before the end. Another report highlighted the reality of USAs situation compared with Trumps lies, speaking of 'inconsequentiality'.
His rating is at 38% apparently, the lowest ever.

At this point, I think they are hoping for pre-emptive pardons.

Their handlers must have big pockets too.

I began to watch it but lost the will to live after about 10 minutes.

This made me laugh out loud. My dogs thought I had gone mad. Though it is 3 am and I am awake reading, so maybe I am.

Chocolate, They were both D seats before, but those percentages are huge.

I couldn't watch the address. All I hear is the teacher from Peanuts when he speaks.

Thanks OP, as the saying goes, I’ll take a rain check.

Me too!

One bright note is that a lot of commentators consider that Trump is finished.

The trouble is he won’t lie down.

I’ve just had a look at the BBC live reporting stream. When it got to the point when Speaker Johnson reportedly said it could have gone on for longer as there was so much good news I just despaired.

If there really is a God they will all rot in hell. How can they be such brazen liars?

I have no wish to listen to the nonsense that that man spouts.

Sadgrandma Wed 25-Feb-26 07:44:02

My goodness it was two hours long, I would have had an out of body experience if I’d watched it!

nanna8 Wed 25-Feb-26 07:36:37

I wouldn’t watch it. Not that interested.

imaround Wed 25-Feb-26 03:38:14

Well, it's predictable.

Me, me , me and I'm certain he's being sponsored to shoehorn the words "big and beautiful" as much as possible into a single speech.

I'm sure he said he's looking legislate to lock up pedophiles for good........hmmm, that may come back to bite him.

Anyone else staying up to watch this? They keep saying that many people throughout the world will be watching is because Trump is ‘an entertainer’ and they want to be entertained by him. Do they really believe this?
