Is there no end to these leaks…

Russia - right leaks

China - left leaks

Basgetti Thu 05-Mar-26 12:26:57

Saw this last night. My first, dreadful I know, thought was “not quite Daniel Craig 😁”.

Bizarre situation.

If he is a spy he’s not a very bright one.
His lobbying company Earthcott held 73k in 2023. In 2024 that shot up to 1 million.
If it’s true the Chinese have recruited a useful idiot.

I imagine there are a fair few people in politics, particularly in Downing Street, very grateful for other news items at the moment…

Yes I agree, for example and as KB pointed out apropos of the resignation of Minister and Labour MP, Josh Simons, "using the strikes in the Middle East to try and sneak out yet another ministerial resignation" KS asked his ethics committee to investigate Josh Simmons who was in charge of Labour Together accused of paying a PR firm to investigate and produce a report on the backgrounds of 2 ST's journalists, widely denounced as a smear campaign by critics.

Her grandfather will be birling in his grave ….shes a red Tory already a disappointment .Jimmy Reid was a man with principles .She has sullied his name.
In case you don’t know some of that money was found in her account along with a bung from an Israeli company.
Stupid stupid woman

Casdon Thu 05-Mar-26 15:31:18

We don’t know much at all about what has happened yet, but Iran situation could easily go on for months or years, but I’m unclear as to what else should have happened, that we weren’t told anything about the potential spying until a day when there was no other news?

I remember him!

Her grandfather will be birling in his grave
He would! (Whatever that means 😀)

He was a Communist.

No hanging, drawing and quartering any more, but treason can incur a sentence of life imprisonment.

My first, dreadful I know, thought was “not quite Daniel Craig
Basgetti 😁 nor Pierce Brosnan.

Was Nicola Sturgeon sullied by her husband’s actions ?

Maremia Thu 05-Mar-26 16:48:10

That's interesting GG153, I wasn't aware of that pattern.

Maremia Thu 05-Mar-26 16:49:36

Yes, I remember Jimmy Reid. He was a hero of the working class at the time.

Matthew Aplin, ex Reform has also been arrested so the news media have gone quiet about it now Reform are implicated too.

Maremia Sat 07-Mar-26 10:54:32

OOOOOps meant to be GG13. Have just noticed this.

Maremia Sat 07-Mar-26 10:55:15

Yes MayBee70 how unusual.

When Nathan Gill (Welsh Reform Party) was charged and subsequently convicted of taking bribes from Russia it was all over the news.

There hasn’t been that much about these three men and their Labour Party connections.

News seems to be concentrating on the men arrested on suspicion of spying for Iran, which is probably understandable in the current situation.

If these men are charged then I'm sure that will be all over the news.

I doubt if Labour have managed to suppress the right wing media as you appear to be implying, GG13.

I wasn’t implying anything of the sort MaizieD I think you will find that was MayBee70

Apologies, GG13.

I think that was an odd thing for MAybee to post.

Casdon Sat 07-Mar-26 17:32:39

It doesn’t look as though this is actually a Downing Street story, the three men are all people once associated with the Welsh government. One of them had moved from Labour to Reform. There is a lot more in the Welsh media than elsewhere about them.

I’m none the wiser about what intelligence they had that they were passing on from Wales, the only link I can see from their profiles is energy, but who knows. No doubt it will all come out later - which is what happened with Nathan Gill too, the initial report of his arrest was very sketchy compared with the information after court.

Allira Sat 07-Mar-26 20:15:12

From your link, Casdon:

Aplin is a former employee of the Western Mail and WalesOnline

Jones was once an influential figure in the inner circle of then-First Minister Carwyn Jones, acting as his chief special advisor.
😲

Taylor previously worked for Welsh Government minister Leighton Andrews and for former Welsh Secretary Peter Hain.

We previously reported that former Western Mail chief reporter Martin Shipton – now associate editor at the Nation Cymru website – had his front door destroyed at 6.07am on Wednesday in a dawn raid connected to the probe.

Independence for Wales and for Scotland would weaken the UK, Casdon
Was that their aim, I wonder?

I think it’s unlikely that independence intelligence was the driver, as neither Welsh Labour or Reform support that Allira, and as far as I know China wouldn’t be that interested in splitting up the UK, although Russia would. My instinct is that it’s possibly a commercial issue linked to solar, wind energy or similar - but I could well be way off the mark.
