Nigel Farage en route to meet his chum Trump tonight aiming to undermine KS and UK government

Nigel Farage to discuss Chagos Islands deal at Mar-a-Lago dinner with Donald Trump tonight. In the latest example of Nigel Farage doing absolutely anything rather than spend time in his Clacton constituency, the Reform UK leader is to meet Donald Trump for dinner at Mar-a-Lago tonight, where he says he will discuss the Chagos Islands deal.

Attending a ‘Save Chagos Boat Party’ yesterday, Farage said he would be flying to Florida to dine with the US president on Friday, GB News reported Farage said:
"We think this is the central plan for this government’s foreign policy and we are beating them back. President Trump has almost understood the deal, but I will be dining at Mar-a-Lago tomorrow night and we will reinforce the message."

Trump changed his mind on supporting the Chagos Islands deal because the UK will not permit its airbases to be used for a pre-emptive US strike on Iran. In his latest change of heart on the deal, the US president said on social media that Keir
Starmer was “making a big mistake” by handing sovereignty of the islands to Mauritius in exchange for continued use by the UK and US of their airbase on one of the islands, Diego Garcia.

Farage also earlier this week called for the UK to join Trump’s war in Iran, a view that is wildly at odds with British voters, according to the latest YouGov polling (only 29% support the joint US-Israeli strikes).

Starmer is just a figurehead....he needs someone to do things for him. At least Farage gets off his backside. I honestly don't know why Starmer wanted to be Prime Minister. He's obviously not comfortable in the role. It's as if he agreed to do it to please someone else.

Gets off his backside?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The people of Clacton think otherwise.

Looks as if he has forgotten where The Road to Wigan Clacton Pier is located.

What do you think of Farage and his 'Cameo' videos? If you pay him, he will creat a video just for you, tailored to your desires. Telling you what you want to hear. Some of his followers are buying into this.
Sounds a bit too 'Only fans' for me.

Not only that, but apparently he is only to happy to include a bit of racism in them if requested...

Though I think, now he's been rumbled he's shut it down...

At least it's finally being acknowledged that GB News is a platform for Reform. Who'd'vethoughtit shock!

Yes I saw that report.

A pint of claret, perhaps.

Spends his time earning a bob or too at the cost of his constituents, really big time?

Shameful!!!

Who can possibly justify the amount of money he earns as well as a generous MP salary, on MP time.

And answer came there none?

Starmer is a disgrace. On so many levels.

Like what?

I'm not sure who Farage thinks he is. He is extremely unimportant and has been allowed to think he has power.

He's a grand chap who wears a Barbour, supports farmers. likes a pint and tells it as it is.

Apparently.

Except, Freya, that Starmer is now more popular now than for a long time - on Any Questions last night R4, there was a "I don't usually support Starmer at all...*but*....
and the audience response was clear.

It's getting a bit easier door knocking for the Labour Party on the doorstep as regards Farage supporters. Doubts creeping in.

A lot of people are thinking of voting for Reform as they are so disillusioned with Labour, why is Rachel still there? she is unpopular and hopeless at her job, Conservatves are just so disappointing so who is left? Nigel has proved himself trying to be Trumps best friend, if he has his way we would be a colony of USA. Trump is determined to get us into a war by any means, he just went ahead with invasion, no discussion, now he want to use our bases, we should say emphatically no. Our troops would soon be on the ground at war with so many countries. All European countries should send a message out to Donald. Don’t use our bases, this is your war not ours. Farage, the devious fox is not patriotic. Just who does he thinks he is? Do we have to let him back in our Country or ask America to look after him.

Thank goodness his party isn't running the country.

Though Farage behaved as though it is.

His snake-oil grifter attitude makes me so mad, I could easily punch the froggy arrogant face!

I feel the same about Starmer and his pathetic nasally drawl. No oomph or personna whatsoever, first and foremost a human rights rights lawyer, never a politician most of the country looks up to.
His lies re Mandelson were a resignation must, yet on the limpet clings.

Didn’t see it myself but I understand that he threatened to walk away from an interview with Beth Rigby who has finally started asking him difficult questions ( albeit not mentioning his trip to America). And Reform are showing how much they’re for the working man by driving a blue Bentley to a garage in Derbyshire. I think they’re beginning to implode at last.

Hoorah!

Is he miffed because Trump wouldn’t meet him?

Much more likely to do with the polling numbers.

Too late Farage.

Mud sticks I’m afraid.

I read today that Farage’s chum Trump did NOT meet up with him haha

I think given time, it is doing LemonJam. There is no political advantage in being pro Trump, it would seem. Interesting political betting attached.

Bad look to waste £250k-£300k for a meaningless weekend trip to Chagos on a private jet perhaps 🤔. Having said that it shows to the world just how narcissistic and stupid Farage is that he didn't even think to check whether a visa was needed to enter Chagos islands. Bad all round but with a silver lining if it turns public opinion against him....

Maremia Tue 10-Mar-26 12:53:38

When did Farage 'get off his backside' and do anything for Clacton?

Maremia Tue 10-Mar-26 12:52:11

Not sure if its a good or a bad look, to be stood up by a convicted felon. grin

LemonJam Tue 10-Mar-26 12:47:10

Yes, It's a problem MaizieD- I think donations needs to be restricted to those who live and vote in UK and pay UK taxes.

Farage appears to view Reform's donation as going into a coffer for any "personal spending" he likes, at any time, multiple times. Farage need not "ask permission" on how he personally spends Reform's donations as he is a director of Reform UK, ie a Ltd company. Farage seemingly can book private jets, stay in expensive hotels abroad, eat expensive meals, drink expensive wines whenever he chooses. The estimated cost of his failed Chagos trip was likely in excess £250-£300k. Yet he hypocritically criticised Starmer for accepting £16,000 for work clothing from a Labour peer, saying "it was a bad look and damaging to Starmer's reputation". Starmer apologised and said it would not happen again. Seemingly Farage has no qualms about his "bad look" or damage to his reputation- or perhaps believes its one rule for him and another for everyone else.....
