For anyone who hasn’t caught this is with a watch, just google it. The Japanese PM asks the President why Japan and other allies were not informed of the impending war with Iran. Trump went on as usual about it being a surprise attack then turned to the Japanese PM and said it was like Pearl Harbour, inasmuch as Japan didn’t tell the US about that surprise attack, as if it was a joke.
The PM looked mortified.

I could have crawled under a stone and died when he said that

I’m honestly querying AI on almost every Trump or Hegseth video I see

🙈

I quite liked his retort, it made me chuckle

MayBee70 I find that hard to accept. The PM of Japan hugging Trump? Japanese have a huge regard for politeness even towards those they know, hugging Trump unbelievable.

I thought it might be AI. I couldn't believe it.

Actually, I'm not usually a royal fan, but I think the King would say what he thought, not just simp, could be quite interesting and amusing

There are photographs in the press showing the Japanese Prime Minister hugging Trump. Even Reuters reported the hug.

I'm puzzled by this, though.
Trump said "Why didn’t you inform me in advance before the Pearl Harbor attack?”

Does he not realise it was in 1941?
Trump was born in 1946

I thought he was going to mention Hiroshima and Nagasaki to!!

It is time to stop making excuses defending this odious man.

He is awful..That poor lady was squirming.. He has no intelligence, dignity, compassion or diplomacy, he's also a convicted felon. He loves humiliating people makes him feel good! Cannot wait till he is removed, one way or another! He is a complete embarrassment! No wonder Melania stays away. She will divorce him after he's out of office. Her prenup will have something like that in it...

Political correctness seems is not his forte to say the least. I actually got the joke about Pearl Harbour and thought it was quite funny.

When I said ‘him’ Willow3 I was referring to the Japanese journalist who had asked the question. I know the Japanese Prime Minister is a woman as she was sitting next to Trump in the video.

Am I a Trumpette, you ask BlueBelle!
I love it! You make me sound like a 60s pop group! We’ve all heard of the Ronnettes, haven’t we?!
I certainly don’t always agree with everything Trump says and does, but in other cases I think credit where credit’s due.
It remains to be seen how this current situation pans out.

I still maintain the question asked by presumably a Japanese journalist was silly, but since the question had been asked, Trump proceeded to explain to him just why it wouldn’t have been a good idea.

Really? "Trump proceeded to explain to him just why it wouldn’t have been a good idea."

As per above, please check out the footage!

If people had bothered - its such a short clip - then it would be clear what the question is, and that the PM is a woman, and exactly why his response was totally, utterly, beyond crass.

Mentally deranged morons cannot be communicated with.
This is why he has so many enemies that were once alliances.

Jojo1950 Fri 20-Mar-26 14:00:39

So what!

Jojo1950 Fri 20-Mar-26 13:58:26

Harsh Bluebell!

Jojo1950 Fri 20-Mar-26 13:51:09

KC is not all he seems!

Jojo1950 Fri 20-Mar-26 13:50:17

Correct!

DevonshireSalop Fri 20-Mar-26 13:42:45

I saw it on the news, and cringed on behalf of the Japanese PM

Cossy Fri 20-Mar-26 13:42:33

It seems every day he has reached the bottom of the barrel, but he keeps proving us wrong by digging deeper.

It's hard to fathom.

He’s got this strange ability to continue to shock. He’s an utter nightmare?

Basgetti Fri 20-Mar-26 13:31:51

Any anyone is surprised because?

Visgir1 Fri 20-Mar-26 12:56:12

On last night's news it clearly said the question was asked but a Japanese Reporter, I expect the PM was mortified by the response.

Fallingstar Fri 20-Mar-26 11:09:46

Yes my mistake Oreo I assumed it was the PM using a translator not a reporter.

Oreo Fri 20-Mar-26 10:11:03

Thanks LD I am coming new to this and read the OP who says it was the PM.

LizzieDrip Fri 20-Mar-26 10:08:19

Oreo

….but JenniferEccles is right, it was a daft question by the Japan PM to ask in a televised setting.
That was something to ask in private if he felt that he had to ask.
The element of surprise was key.

Oreo the question was asked by a Japanese reporter not by the Japanese PM.

Also, the Japanese PM is a woman.
