If your passport needs renewing do it before the end of the month as they are set to rise in 8th of April 2026 .
New charges are:
Online application from £94.50 to £102, Children from £61.50 to £66.50
Postal applications from £107 to £115.50 Children from £74.00 to £80.
Premium one day service from £222. To £239.00
Also increases for overseas application.
I bet there will be a lot of people up in arms in the next few weeks of people complaining that they have been put out because of the price increases.
The premium service charge is staggering.

I think it's pretty good they even offer a one day service if someone needs it, (and can afford it).

The renewal is only £10 a year for 10 years

........That still wouldn't cover travel to countries outside the EU, which number more than a few.......

So what if an EU ID cardholder wanted to travel to say Canada, Australia or India?
They would still need a passport.

OH and I both got new ten year ones last year thank God. As someone said it's only about £10 a year for 10 years so value not too bad.
It's one of the go-to documents for proof of who you are for all sorts of annoying but vital other paperwork , so worth having for that alone IMO.
