Farage/Reform got £12.000.000 before the 2024 election.

BUT

Breaking news over the last 10 hours,

Farage was given £5.000.000 by the Thai-based billionaire Christopher Harborne shortly before announcing he would stand in the 2024 general election, "for security"

Farage did not declare this, breaking parliamentary rules.

He should be held accountable by parliament and appear before a standards committee. Reform UK claim he did not break parliamentary rules. Oh really?

No one, No politician should be allowed to accept gifts without declaring them,

But £5.000.000!

Report from Reuters.

Shouldn’t that be on the front page of all of the newspapers?

Farage had to dash off to the US for a Republican convention, he doesn't get paid enough to hang around in the House of Commons when there's real money to be made schmoozing Trump supporters.

Good grief…angry

What, the great patriot Mr Farage couldn’t be bothered to take up his place in the HoC for the King’s speech debate😱

Maremia Wed 13-May-26 19:13:41

How many is that now?

Graphite Wed 13-May-26 18:18:29

I thought perhaps he was keeping a low profile over the Harborne bungs and because the number of new Reform councillors suspended since last Friday for gross behaviour is already into double figures.

Latest is Nazi sympathizer Nathaniel Menday elected in Sheffield.

So much for Zia Yusuf’s world class vetting. What vetting?

This donation/ gift by Harbourne to Farage is being investigated.

What would we do without Casdon to tell us what we are supposed to be talking about. No deviations.

Rambling off down blind alleys?

Or enjoying a debate and widening it? Threads do ramble.

What would be interesting is if Farage is suspended leading to a recall and by-election and Labour put up Andy Burnham to slug it out with him.

What are the odds of electing a man who had a proven track record in fixing things for local people versus a man who doesn't give a flying fig?

There is no question this should have been declared.

Harborne had already given the Brexit Party £10 million and has subsequently given Reform £12 million. He had given millions to the Tories and to Johnson privately.

Farage would not need protection (as he claims this money is for) if he wasn’t a very visible and controversial political figure.

This induction letter to new MPs from the Commissioner for Standards Daniel Greenberg is very clear.

www.parliament.uk/globalassets/documents/pcfs/advice-notes/parliamentary-commissioner-for-standards---members-induction-pack-2024.pdf

^The main purpose of the Register is to provide
information about any financial interest which a Member has, or any benefit which he or she receives, which others might reasonably consider to influence his or her actions or words as a Member of Parliament.^

That Farage takes £5 million from a crypto billionaire and had become a huge advocate of crypto since becoming involved with Harborne is no coincidence including proposing huge tax breaks for people making capital gains from crypto gambling.

Looking back at Farage’s nomination documents to stand for Clacton in 2024 I noticed that one of his two main nominees was racist Jeff Bray whose behaviour was exposed by HopeNot Hate. Last week he was elected to Essex County Council.

In other Reform news, in Doncaster, one Reform councillor elected last year wants money spent on a UFO committee. The aliens are very interested n Bawtree apparently.

It’s politics Jim, but not as we know it. Bloody aliens coming down here taking our jobs and council houses.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 13-May-26 14:55:59

I understand that the gentleman who donated this money says that he has a lot more to give. When challenged over the problems associated with his present donation, he replied that he would find a way around it...
He's a crypto currency businessman. Mr Farage has spoken ( entirely coincidentally, of course ) about a need to change the rules in Britain regarding cryptocurrency trading.

Casdon Wed 13-May-26 14:11:56

I read that the Electoral Standards Commission, which was the body the Tories complained to, might also investigate. Their decision is due on Friday.

AGAA4 Wed 13-May-26 13:40:06

Just caught that on the lunchtime news. I hope Farage doesn't wriggle out of it. He should lose his seat.

Casdon Wed 13-May-26 12:51:20

With all the excitement going on elsewhere today, it would be easy to miss that it has just been reported than Farage will face a Parliamentary Standards Commission investigation in the £5m ‘gift’.

What happened to it ronib? On whom was it wasted? Given to just one individual, in secret, and therefore undeclared?

It was declared to the electoral commission. It was bequeathed to the Conservative Foundation, an endowment fund rather than for direct campaigning.

Lord S was a life long Labour Party supporter, served as an under Secretary of State in Tony Blair's government. He was a House of Lords Labour peer. the endowment fund supports a bursary scheme for parliamentary candidates.

He was a significant philanthropist and gave funds to various parties over his lifetime for specific causes e.g. to the lib dems to support the Remain campaign in the Brexit vote.

I’m impressed that Reform has got to its current position on peanuts ….

Looking at Reform, ronib. Of the £35 million it has received since its inception the 'surge' noted by Lemonjam over about 1 year (2024/25) was £20 million' . Not 'peanuts'. I suspect that it would not have done so well without it.
