How did you vote and why today

Many here aren't keen on Trump and say so often so I dont think it matters if someone abroad has an opinion.

The idea that if Starmer goes it will be is benefit to Labour is of course, correct.
Keir seems totally deaf to what the populace think of him..

Despite these massive losses he still intends to stay. The arrogance is off the scale. He says he won't leave in order to stave off chaos. Unbelievable.

However, as Farage has stated, let him stay. He's a great asset to opposing parties.

Back to yesterday’s results, in my area the voting turnout was well under 40% which is truly awful .

Our local Conservative was returned (at one time we only returned Conservatives) with the Green Party as runners up.

As the areas voting cover large swathes of the pro-Brexit areas I'm really not taking too seriously (as regards how the country would vote) the pro Reform vote. My greatest sadness it's that Reform voters are still ignorant or simplly don't care about what Reform would do to the country and to them - just as Brexit voters were, just as Maga voters were in America.

Is it just Keir's name you're concerned about or are you equally concerned when people refer to Catherine Princess of Wales as 'Kate', (despite her stated request that her name is Catherine) ?

I think people are very worried about illegal immigration and the failure to deal with it.and also the very deprived areas and high crime rates, shop lifting is so common place and affects shoos already struggling.the other thing is very deprived areas and rising crime rates. Its no wonder. People voted Reform. Starmer doesn't listen its as simple as that. I do worry about how Reform will get on as they have no experience of running anything. Starmer has 3 years to do something but he won’t last as he is too blinkered.

So ironic to be saying that Starmer 'doesn't listen' when he spent the first 18months at least of government in trying to out Reform Reform on the matter of immigration. Perhaps no-one was listening to him?

They other themselves - they are a limited company, think not declaring financial interests/ gifts applies to everyone but them, attend the House infrequently & walk out en masse (well, all half dozen of them) if someone says something they don't like, claim they're going to do things that sound popular but they know damn well aren't in fact feasible.

I have more respect for Marine Le Penn's lot - their views offend me but they're honestly held & they're not just out for what £££ they & their cronies can get out of politics.

What do you think people actually care about? As Reform are allegedly finding out, maybe they could share the outcome of their enquiries with the common people.

I confess I have seen absolutely no indication that Reform has any plan to sort out anything, except lining the pockets of a very few.

But you would surely expect Reform seats in Scotland to reflect a UK wide picture, if they don’t have any or a very small presence, the country will be more divided than ever before, so it is certainly not spectacular in terms of their prospect of forming a UK government.

I didn’t expect them to do much in Scotland tbh as the SNP always take precedence there.

According to Sky pundits Reform will do very well in the next GE.
Labour got into power in the last GE with very few winning constituencies in Scotland as the SNP decimated them there some years ago.

Scotland has 57 seats in Westminster Parliament. As of the last GE (2024)

37 of those Scottish MPs are Labour, 9 are SNP, 6 Lib Dem
5 Conservative.

Sorry to hear your GC having some difficulties in the playground. I'm afraid it's part of growing up. Kids can be mean at times to each other and the best of friends the next day. If there is bullying then always report it. But it's usual that kids can find it hard at times to find their friendship group. It does take time. Try to ask them to think of 3 things that were good about there day. It can help them re focus on something positive and reassuring to you that there are good things happening in their day. I think you've posted on the politics thread for the day so you might not get a response tonight.
