He has been cleared by the council, this was hiding in the backwaters of political news.

Polanski again!
(69 Posts)It seems Green Party leader Zack Polanski has apologised for an "unintentional mistake" after admitting he failed to pay the correct council tax while living on a houseboat in east London. He was registered on the electoral roll at the marina address - but told reporters he only stayed there "occasionally."
Tax lawyer Dan Neidle says the evidence points to the narrowboat being his main residence, meaning Polanski either owes unpaid council tax or potentially committed a criminal offence by registering to vote at an address he did not actually live at.
The Green Party leader who campaigns on fairness — caught dodging his own council tax bill?
How many more skeletons are in his closet?
He apologised, oh that’s ok then.

Who is defending Polanski M0nica? Do you mean in the country as a whole, as I haven’t seen defence of his behaviour on this site?
Mainly vox pops with Green voters, many of whom seem to think the sun shines from his fundament. Devout Reform voters respond th Farage in the same way.
Allira, one of my family who is interested in politics, always votes usually Labour, voted Green in our local elections. She’s disappointed with Labour, feels let down. She, like many others see the greens as a more dynamic option.
Yes I’ve pointed out my concerns.

To me Polanski is just a showman. Whereas Caroline Lucas was ( and is) pure class.
Yes, I agree.
Not sure if I'd even credit him with being a showman, Maybee
Walter Mitty comes to mind when I see him.
However, the fantasists, those economical with the truth and the grifters seem to be rising in popularity in UK politics rather than the boring and steady.
Apparently his appeal is slipping, thank goodness
Is it?
Perhaps we cynical older voters can see through him, REKA, but what about the younger voters, those who think we destroyed their world?
REKA
Polanski had stated he'd voted by post but then had had to own up to not voting at all.
Apparently his appeal is slipping, thank goodness. No idea how he appeared from nowhere and seemed to captivate people.
Oh another embellishment of the truth from a wannabe politician…

Did he say why he didn't vote? Not that it makes a difference.
More under-mining of our democracy...
It bothers me the number of people prepared to disparage Farage yet defend Polanski.
Condemning the behaviour of the person whose political views they dislike while jumping to defend the leader whose politics and party they approve off.
Both of them are shysters and rip off merchants ready to play with the truth and be financially underhand when the opportunity arises.
Mass populist movements that take over countries and destroy peoples lives and democracy itself, starts when suppoters condemn in other leaders, behaviour they ignore in their own favourite candidate.
Ran out of time to change his address on the register apparently keepingquiet.

I have just been listening to a discussion on breakfast news regarding Polanski.
He has stated that he didn’t vote in the local elections, despite the fact that there was an election for Mayor in his area.
Ironically it was the Green Party candidate that won.
Isn’t it rather hypocritical to tout for votes for your party and then not bother to vote yourself…

A very unpleasant tone in these comments.
I'm not a Polanski fan but come on...council tax on a houseboat??
Billionairres are praised to the rafters for tax avoidance, Polanski paid up and he's still being villified.
What dreadful double standards some people have...What because he was caught for not paying council tax and has lied? Thats ok with you???
No, of course it isn't ok with me.
Let's be clear I am not a supporter of Polanski or the Green party in it's present manifestation.
However, Reform and especially their leader don't care that they lie and their supporters don't seem to consider it important either. It is this double standard I don't get.
To me a lie is a lie- but in politics as in life people will tell lies to get to where they want to be.
Lying about having an affair with someone else's wife is not the same as lying about laundering money, accepting bribes from Russians, or failing to pay taxes on your earnings because that isn't just lying it is also stealing.
Sometimes I think I live in a parallel universe.
To me Polanski is just a showman. Whereas Caroline Lucas was ( and is) pure class.

Me, too. Why is the wrongdoings of Farage given little scrutiny? Like Polanski, I see a grifter.
Why do so many people think Polanski's failings are given more time aand space than Farages.
To begin with I am not sure it is true one r other of them seems to be in the news for misdemeanours every day.
If there is a difference it is that Farge has been in the public eye for a decade or more longer than Polanski so we have had more time to hear about all his little side hustles and card fuzzying. It is what we expect of him, even as we deplore it.
But the Greens ,a party which has prided itself on the intelligence of its members and the nobility of their behaviour, to be conned to voting into leadership aman who is, to put it mildly, economical with the truth and a tax dodger as well. Now that really is news.

I don’t either PlevyO8. I’m worrying because I loathe zclsrkson yet agree with him.
Oreo, apologies for taking your irony seriously, I should’ve guessed. I blame it on living in such weird political times
I wouldn't have usually agreed with Jeremy Clarkson....but he did say, a few weeks ago 'I don't like his face'.

What do you think Council Tax pays for?
Whether you live on a houseboat or in a castle, you still have access to libraries, open spaces, such as parks etc, roads -potholes and all - education, health provision, street lighting, police and emergency services - I could go on!
As far as I’m aware Farage in contrast still hasn’t paid the £44k stamp duty owed on his second home which he says his girlfriend bought but which she couldn’t have afforded to buy! That, apparently has got far few column inches than this council tax oversight, the money in respect of which was immediately paid. Why is that??
Me, too. Why is the wrongdoings of Farage given little scrutiny? Like Polanski, I see a grifter.
Angela Rayner btw
I fear we are Betony so look out for the Red Queen !
Oreo
Council tax not paid.
Breast enlargement by hypnosis and not being a bonafide hypnotist apparently.
Not a Red Cross spokesman either.
Is he really Jewish?
I had a hollow laugh at your post, Oreo. I fear our trust in many current politicians is fading fast, particularly the leader of the Greens. Sadly, gone are the days when they were lead by Caroline Lucas, who once brilliantly foiled Jeremy Paxman's verbal assault by remaining cool and calm, answering his hostile questions with articulate intelligence.
You've said it all in your post about Polanski. Why does the word 'fake' occur to me? Rather like Tommy Robinson, he won't even use his own name.
Also, Natalie Bennett - she of the 'cough, cough, I've got a dreadful cold so am too ill answer any questions about the Greens' housing finance' fame, and who took over from Caroline, is back on the media scene. She recently puzzled the audience of Radio 4's Any Questions with a very odd statement, which I guess is still on catch up, if you're interested. In the interim she has somehow earned a peerage and is in the House of Lords.
Are we all down the rabbit hole with Alice?
