Has died, aged 90.

Been suffering from Alzheimer’s,

Long running presenter of ‘Wish You Were Here’, among many other programmes.

RIP.

A blast from the past. Judith Chalmers came across as warm and pleasant and I always associated her with travel programmes although she may have done other things.

I suppose you'd have to be over a certain age to remember her. A different era of television.
Rest in peace.

My father used to say I would look like her. I was 4!

Oh what was the travel show called, was it ‘wish you was here’?
Ahh RIP Judith

It was “Wish you were here” which she is best known for.

She was also on an afternoon programme on ITV in the seventies.

The name escapes me but Mary Berry was also on it if anyone remembers it?

RIP Judith

It was called Good afternoon though I don’t remember it much. Was working so didn’t catch any daytime telly. Apparently it was on from 1971 through to the 1980s.

My memories of Judith are of her walking along a beautiful beach or surrounded by fantastic scenery in ‘wish you were here’. I hope she loved travelling to those lovely holiday destinations, she certainly made it enjoyable to watch.
Thoughts are with the family 🙏🏾💐

What a great life. She hosted Come Dancing too, in the sixties I think?

Judith Chalmers was the epitome of 1960s BBC. I was saddened to hear she had Alzheimer's.
She was married to Neil Durden-Smith, another presenter. We're they the Posh & Becks of their generation?

I can remember her on Wish You Were Here and doing the commentary on the fashions at Royal Ascot.

My mam used to go to the hairdressers and ask for her like Judith chalmers. Lovely lady.

Bukkie Sat 23-May-26 21:31:35

Yes happy memories of television many years ago. I also remember Holiday with Cliff? Michelmersh.

sharon103 Sat 23-May-26 21:40:48

Yes Bukkie. It was Cliff Michelmore. I think he was the first presenter.

MissAdventure Sat 23-May-26 21:56:43

My oldest grandson was really confused to see Nanny on the tv.
My mum was less than impressed because she didn't like Judith.
They really did look alike, though. I always think of beautiful blue skies, and golden beaches when I think of Judith.

I meant Michelmore but as I posted it autocorrected. I always call my SIL Judith Chambers because she is always on holiday.
