There would.

Any criticism of the Israeli government seems to be regarded as anti semitism and Netanyahu uses it like a shield . I’m actually at risk of being banned from this forum for even suggesting it even though it’s true. And how many incidents in Gaza concerning eg aid worked being killed just get a ‘ it will be investigated’ response from the Israeli government and we never ever hear anything about it again. If white Christian civilians were slaughtered in such huge numbers there would be a huge outcry worldwide about it.

We absolutely knew that Netanyahu would be the fly in the ointment. He won’t stop until Lebanon is gone (unless he is somehow stopped).

They were allowed to get away with it in Gaza and now think they’re omnipotent angry.

Absolutely MayBee.

Israel got away with raising Gaza to the ground and displacing millions of innocent civilians.

They’re now undertaking Gaza#2 in Lebanon.

I truly don’t understand why the world is not more outraged!

They got away with more than any other country would have been allowed to even before Gaza.

Human nature, isn't it? If someone / some group / some state considers themselves above criticism & everyone colludes with this - they just push the boundaries further- and further- and call people names if they object (in Israel's case)

The EU is meeting this week to discuss Israel’s behaviour regarding illegal annexation of land and the murder of innocent farming communities, where thuggery, sexual violence and beatings are common.

It's good that the EU will discuss the Israeli Government's condonation of the settlers' behaviour towards the Palestinians living in the West Bank, but what action can the EU actually take? There is a recent law that has been passed whereby if a Palestinian murders a settler on the West Bank, they may be executed, but if a settler murders a Palestinian they will not receive the death penalty. The Israeli Government is out of control, but what can be done about it?

As regards using "The" it has no Great Significance for me - I heard someone use it way way back and out it popped in the title. It's the old historical term and yes outdated now.

People are, that is why you are seeing support Gaza marches everywhere throughout the world. And why supporters of Israel are conflating the protests as anti-Semitic.

Some Governments I think are outraged, it is just that insufficient action is being taken

Absolutely, Vintagewhine and Maybee.
There continue to be people who defend any actions taken by Israel, however abhorrent, astonishingly.

Vintagewhine Tue 26-May-26 07:24:10

Lebanon has been attacked by Israel on many occasions because of the presence of Hezbollah but ultimately it's the innocent citizens who pay the price but they are not in a position to get rid of the terrorists. The world watches and does nothing.

Ah. I read about putting "the" in front of a country's name and it has something to do with recognizing a geographical region but not a sovereign state.

Strange terms:.The China,.The United States. The France, The Netherlands, The Burma, The India, The United Kingdom, The Brazil, The Canada, The middle east, The South Pole, The Galapagos Islands, The Virgin Islands, The Bahamas, The Cuba. The Turkey. I have gone overboard with this now.

Macaydia Tue 26-May-26 05:33:14

Why do you say The Lebanon instead of Lebanon?

My friends ate.there and they have had a horrific lifestyle for at least 15 years.

Correct - despite all so called peace efforts...

Wyllow3 Mon 25-May-26 22:45:05

announced on BBC 10pm news - espite so called peace efforts, and Trump saying they were so close to an agreement with Iran,

Netanyahu announced they were to bomb the Lebanon very heavily. More innocents of course in the way of "Targets"

Of course it has broken any chance of a peace agreement, for the Iranians had as part of the deal - apparently agreed by Trump - asked for a cease fire on all fronts.

So the deal - smashed to bits?

Trump has yet to criticise Netanyahu.
