How has the tragic case of this young man not caused outrage?

Imagine if he had been a person of colour or ethnic minority.

The Police handling of this case raises serious questions.

The killer behaved appallingly, lying to Police and then getting his family to hide weapons and cover for him.

It’s also astonishing to learn Sikhs can carry these knives in public because they are “ religious regalia”

For anyone that isn’t aware of this tragedy here is a link.

He'd be bloody moving if i was in charge!
"Frightened, are you? I don't think so, mate".

Digwa is refusing to move to A Wing at HMP Frankland where some right charmers are incarcerated. He fears for his safety as Ian Huntley was on this wing and he knows what happened to him. Good. I hope every second is torture because that's what he has inflicted on poor Henry's family.

Thanks Petra, you’d expect a quick check of force intelligence or expressions of concern by neighbours, before responding to this call

There’s something rotten in the woodpile Re this local police force. Neighbours have reported firearms in the back garden. Nothing happened. The killer had been arrested several times for violent offences.
The knife that killed Henry was not a Kirpan, it was a Turkish dagger.

That aspect is also going to be part of the investigation, but yes, I agree with you.

The police who attended the scene made the mistake of already believing it was a racial attack and believed all they were told instead of assessing the situation properly. That was evident from all the bodycam footage.
Instead of treating it as a violent incident between two young men and examining properly the one on the ground that said multiple times he had been stabbed and handcuffing the one stood there with no injuries, they felt they had to automatically believe and treat with kid gloves the non white man.
That’s what it boils down to.

I'm so glad this came to light, rather than being swept away out of sight.
It's an insult to Henry's memory not to fully investigate it, which I think was in danger of happening.

It’s truly horrific to learn how H Novak died. That response to him saying I’ve been stabbed - “I don’t think so mate” from one officer is haunting and shocking. I expect it will haunt the officer who said it. I’m surprised he hasn’t resigned.

Good that they are being investigated then.....

My outrage is with the way this was handled by the two police officers, and that comes from someone with family members in the force, if someone is laying seriously injured on the floor do they need to be handcuffed? Surely they are taught to assess the situation first, I find it strange that they didn't seem have any thought for the injured person, you can always arrest them after but you first priority would be to help the injured person.

MissAdventure Wed 01-Jul-26 15:20:39

Without a doubt, and all the better to read that Henry's father does, too.

Smileless2012 Wed 01-Jul-26 15:19:04

I agree LemonJam.

I think everyone on this thread supports investigation.

Mr Nowak’s father, Mark Nowak, spoke to journalists about the disparity in treatment between his son and Digwa.

He said: "His murderer… was afforded decency.

"He was believed.

"He was not handcuffed when arrested.

"He was not handcuffed when transported to the police station.

"As far as we understand, he was never handcuffed at all.

"And, as Vickrum Digwa himself told the court, while under arrest for Henry’s murder, police even took him to the kitchen so he could choose his food.

"The contrast is unbearable."

Two police officers are to be investigated regarding their treatment of Henry, including their failure to administer first aid after he told them he'd been stabbed.

The Solicitor General is referring this case to the Court of Appeal. She considers the sentence to be far too lenient, which it is. I think I read somewhere that the decision to award a lower sentence was because the knife was being worn for ceremonial and religious reasons.

Well then he abused that (dubious) concession and privilege, which makes the crime worse in my view 😠

MissAdventure Thu 25-Jun-26 11:30:08

It's difficult to take anything as irrefutable truth when the facts keep slowly trickling out.
At the beginning, had nobody questioned, we would have believed it was all just a tragic event, presumably with the police acting exactly how they should have.

NotSpaghetti Thu 25-Jun-26 11:02:08

No, Sarnia it was already shown that swifter action would not have saved his life.

I thought there was a twelve minute recording of the two brothers discussing their stories , in Punjabi, in the back of the Police car

MissAdventure Thu 25-Jun-26 08:33:20

I can still hear that poor soul's distress, as he told them "I've been stabbed".

Sarnia Thu 25-Jun-26 08:11:44

New footage just released shows Police took 8 minutes to realise Henry HAD actually been stabbed as he told them.
Shocking.

Henry's poor family, hearing this. Medical help in that 8 minutes may have saved his life.
