I liked DHs paintings.
My mum has his sisters drawings Margret Clarkson? I think it’s his sister.

That's very sad news. He was such a great artist

An hugely talented artist in so many spheres. His volume of work is enormous and we are fortunate to have seen so much.
A great yorkshireman , there's no doubt of that .

RIP David, such pleasure you’ve brought to many. His exhibition at Saltaire is wonderful, if you’re nearby it’s certainly worth a visit.
If I ever won a million or more pounds, I’d be straight out to a gallery or auction to buy one of his paintings.

So sad he has gone. His exhibition in Bayeux, of Normandy through the seasons, was wonderful.

I liked Hockney’s paintings very much and admired the fact that later in his life, he was fascinated by, and embraced, digital technology as a medium. A sad loss.

He was so talented, using an iPad in such a clever way as another medium for his work and his attitude to life was inspiring.
RIP David, thank you.

That’s sad news.
We should follow his example and try to see the beauty in everything around us.

RIP David Hockney.

I hadn't realised he was 88. I agree Lovetopaint that he opened our eyes to the world around us. RIP flowers.

David Hockney at 88 has died. We loved him for his wonderful art and his discussions about art and life. He was unique and very special in that he moved with the times and embraced new technology when needed. He oozed charm with his down to earth northern humour while he never gave up his smoking and lived his life on his terms. He returned to his roots and showed its beauty which was especially evident when he filled the Royal Academy with his exhibition Of a few years ago. Like other great painters he encouraged you to see the beauty in everything around you. I can never look at a tree without seeing the colours which are so easily overlooked. David Hockney opened our eyes to the world around us. Today I feel so sad.
