China is actually the world's top energy producer from renewables. The US not so much!

But China is a very big country with a huge electricity production and only 30% of its power comes from renewable sources. It is also consumes 25% of the world's coal output each year in power generation.

Here is a link to a fascinating map that shows what proportion renewables play in a countries total energy consumption.

www.visualcapitalist.com/cp/mapped-renewable-energy-by-country-in-2022/

It shows a swathe of Central African countries, Norway, Iceland produce all their electricity from renewables. Other countries like Canada, Brazil, Sweden and Greenland and more African countries produce 70% plus of their electricity from renewables.

On the other end of the scale most of the 'sinners' are physically large countries. Both Russia and the US produced barely 20% of their power from renewable sources. India, China, Australia and Argentina hover around 30%.

I agree Oreo, but those products would not be made without people wishing to buy them.

we all need more information
All the information you need is at your finger tips.
All I will say is that, if climate change doesn’t wipe us out, micro plastics will.
But at least the planet will survive without us destroying it 😥

Versatile as Andy no doubt is, I don’t think he can halt global warming or stop wars.
I do think, that where green credentials are concerned the UK is doing quite well, but we’re a tiny island and it’s up to the big guys like the US and China to step up.

I watched a public screening of this film last night. I believe everyone should see it. As I already suspected, the future is not looking good for the human race. A wide range of experts in the film are trying to hammer home the message that we haven't got long, but it's not too late to act. We all need more information. We need leadership, and we need action. Now that Andy Burnham looks likely to be our new leader, do you think we could be more optimistic?
