Shocking Stabbing

This lady was asleep in her bed, with her husband and with her young baby, in their own home.

“A man has been charged with murder after a woman was fatally stabbed in Hayes, west London.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called just before 08:00 BST to a property on Uxbridge Road on Sunday where they found Kirandeep Kaur with stab wounds.

Despite efforts of emergency services, the 24-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 20s was found outside the property, also with stab injuries. He remains in hospital and his condition is not considered to be life threatening.

Daniel Sean James, 44, of Mercer Place, Pinner, was also charged on Monday with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Tuesday”

Someone on Facebook has asked “where is the cold dark rage”

He’s not advocating violence, but he’s questioning why this doesn’t meet the narrative of being outraged.

What is happening in our country and in our world?

The issue for me is that a young woman was stabbed to death in her own home.
Now, if she had phoned to police and they'd said "Stabbed? I don't think you were, love"...

That’s exactly it.
are posters wilfully misunderstanding in order to try and twist things to make out that other posters or the UK population don’t care two hoots about a young woman being murdered in her own home by an intruder because he was white?I think they are, and why? To spread dissent?

Sarnia - exactly. I felt really sorry for the police and local inhabitants and businesses. It was a scarey time

Maremia Mon 20-Jul-26 08:32:32

Why, nanna?
Simple.
'To avoid whipping up racial hatred'

A few months ago there was a frankly bizarre situation not far from where I live A young woman claimed to have been gang raped. There was public disorder with the usual flag waving young men attacking the police for not releasing the ethnicity information on the suspects. This proved difficult for the police as the rape never happened so there was no information re ethnicity ( or anything else) to release.

It sounds like you live near me. I remember that incident. The Police are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

The ethnicity is just always a problem regardless of whether the person was born here or not. It inflames the situation because it is whipped up by racists supported by the likes of Farage.

A decision is made 'to avoid whipping up racial hatred'
and
'before cases have been examined'.
Should Posters also observe the same restraints?

Why ?

GrannyGravy13 Mon 20-Jul-26 08:07:33

There are between 500-600 murders each year in the U.K.

Each one is one too many as far as I am concerned, regardless of the ethnicity of the perpetrator.

The ethnicity becomes a problem when the perpetrator is not born in the U.K., and has come to this country for sanctuary.

In my opinion this inflames the situation as it is an abuse of the UK’s generosity, not an act of someone grateful to have been given asylum from whatever evils and horrors they were fleeing.

As far as I can check this is the latest interim guidance on the matter issued by the College of Policing last year

‘When disclosure may be appropriate
The national guidance advises that forces should confirm the nationality and/or ethnicity of the suspect or defendant (where known or recorded) in high profile, or sensitive investigations or operations where there is:

a policing purpose in doing so
a related risk or impact on public safety such as rising community tension
misinformation or disinformation leading to community tension
a significant level of media or social media interest’

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 20-Jul-26 07:46:30

I think that there was a new informal agreement, after the Southport riots, to encourage both police and press to declare the ethnicity of any suspect, thus avoiding any unfounded speculation.

Actually Wyllow all too often the ethnicity of suspects is often withheld if they are not white to avoid whipping up racist hatred before cases have been examined.

The trouble with that is, that a lack of transparency can result in disinformation, which is often a far bigger problem for society.

It took 40 seconds to find out the ethnicity of the man by entering the sentence with the name in from the O/P

result (BBC)

"Yes, Daniel Sean James is a white British man. Court and police proceedings identify him as a British male of Caucasian descent"

There simply is not the publicity there would have been had it been a man of diverse ethnicity actually breaking onto a house and going into someones bedroom to stab them to death

It would have hit the headlines in most newspapers. IMO no use pretending it could be otherwise.

Time, and future Threads, will tell.

Galaxy Sun 19-Jul-26 22:41:25

Yes it was plainly to do with the actions of the police.
It often happens with murders, if you look at Sarah Everard, that case received much more attention than other murders of women because of the nature of the case.

All murders, whether by stabbing or some other means, are utterly abhorrent.

Many of us will understand the lack of publicity around this awful murder, of a young Indian women in her own home, allegedly stabbed by a white man, and the equally abhorrent murder of Henry Nowak, a white man murdered by a Sikh.

Neither murder is more tragic, more horrific, more terrifying than the other.

One got huge amounts of media coverage, one didn’t.

This latest murder happened on July 12th.

Where is the public outrage and widespread condemnation?

I think the Henry case was because of the police's actions, and the fact that they weren't open about them.

JaneJudge Sun 19-Jul-26 22:10:44

I’ve not missed the point but I don’t really know what to say

Cossy Sun 19-Jul-26 22:09:20

Sorry, but I think some are missing the point. I’ll leave it at that 😕😢

Maremia Sun 19-Jul-26 22:07:21

Every murder is vile, evey death, a tragedy, but has there ever been a study on Gransnet about which 'category' of criminal gets the most publicity?

Shinamae Sun 19-Jul-26 22:00:09

I don’t really care about the ethnicity of the victim or the perpetrator, The fact that these days there are so many Murders some of them hardly warrant a mention, yet you go back to the 50s and 60s and a murder would’ve been front page news for a good while
Times have changed and not for the better..(Sorry for stating the obvious!)

It’s a horrifying story and must bother everybody. But I agree with MOnica there’s not much to suggest it was a racially motivated attack. And is it certain that murder was intended? Going along the street trying doors sounds more like burglary, but maybe I have missed something.
