I know, I was so saddened to hear that she had a little baby and was so happy. It's seems that these psychos are in our communities and I find it highly unlikely that they haven't come to the attention of the police, doctors and mental health services. It seems nobody is prepared to stand up and say when. a person is not fit to live in a community.

Sometimes these individuals are known to the above services. Care is managed under the Community Mental Health Framework - an integration of primary care, mental health services, and social care.

This 'framework' is severely understaffed and underfunded. The consequences of this theoretical holistic approach under such conditions is inevitable.

'Care in The Community' cannot function on the cheap. Austerity has to be lifted.

My late mother lived in a block of flats where a man with mental health problems also lived. He used to rampage and terrify the other residents. My mother, a retired SRN, used to attempt to calm him down and/or persuade him to take his medication. She was, basically, left to get on with it. Fortunately, although his outbursts were alarming, he didn't hurt anyone - but might have done, there was no way of knowing. He simply was not being monitored adequately because the case workloads were too intense for those integrated services.

Obviously, we don't know if the perpetrator of this awful murder had mental health problems that were being monitored. But this what springs to mind when you hear about these random acts of violence.

I don't know, but do believe, that there are individuals walking around among us who are a danger to the public, and themselves. On one or two occasions, this has proved to be the case.

Are you suggesting, M0nica, that this white man aged 44 was,"just" another lunatic intent on slaughtering someone for the sake of it?
If this was a prdominantly Sikh area, the presumption would be that there is a racist element to this crime.

But I doubt, all the population was sikh, perhaps 25% plus, so there was no assuredness that the occupants of the house would be sikh.

Given he was trying doors in a random manner and also, I think stabbed someone in the street, it does not follow that the attack was racist.

He had no means of knowing the ethnicity of the people in the house he had got into and as he went into an unlit bedroom in the dark and randomly stabbed someone lying in a bed, it would be quite remarkable if in the brief second between walking into the room wielding a knife and stabbing someone he was able to gather any information about the ethnicity of the occupants in the bed.

That is all relevant too Monica. I think suspicions/ speculation as there is a large Sikh community in the area. But a good reminder not to speculate. No doubt more will be divulged.

Unimaginably horrific for the family and the wider neighbourhood. Dear God, what gets into these people?

There was a man a few days ago who fled to South Africa after killing his wife and two daughters aged five and 15. Absolutely shocking. I believe he was arrested by South African police

Is the suspect white? There your answer if he is .

I live quite near and we have a large Sikh community. It's absolutely tragic what has happened, a senseless murder, the perpetrator was trying various houses doors to gain entry. There has been an big outcry on the local Nextdoor app & I saw something on the news about the Sikh community lobbying for more coverage, there should be more outrage definitely. That poor baby is going to grow up motherless.
