Lucy Powell and Bridget Phillipson have both been seen walking up to the front door of No 10, as Andy Burnham continues to make his Cabinet appointments at pace.

Ms Powell, the Deputy Labour leader, is a close friend of Mr Burnham’s. She is the MP for Manchester Central, so has had a close relationship with him during his time as Manchester mayor.

Ms Phillipson, the Education Secretary, is on the party’s Left and has overseen the policy of implementing VAT on private schools and the removal of the two-child benefit cap.

Interesting to see where he puts Yvette Cooper now Milliband has her old job.

Well I suppose anything less than Chancellor of the Exchequer might be considered ‘a more junior role’ Casdon?

Glad to see Healey as chancellor. Hopefully he will work on our inadequate defence now. He resigned as he felt Starmer wasn't doing enough.

She is widely considered to be Mr Burnham’s right-hand woman and will be responsible for enforcing his will across Whitehall.

Ms Reeves left the Cabinet to return to the back benches earlier on Monday. She is said to have rejected a more junior role in Mr Burnham’s top team.

On the whole, I see a cabinet with possibly more experience than some in the previous one.

Angela Rayner, has an NVQ level 2 which is regarded as equivalent to 4 or maybe 5 GCSEs.
Not everything should be measured by academic achievement.

I agree with those who are confused about the relevance. As an MP she was representing her constituents, which doesn't need a subject specialism, and not many degrees equip people for working in the Cabinet.
