Sexy fun at M&S?
(133 Posts)Apparently M&S have collaborated with Anne Summers and are selling lacy crotchless thongs. Each to their own of course but I was surprised. 😳
Well I don't wear cashmere, alas all wool is itchy to me, but Have always thought M n S had good value. Nice pressies for blokes if you can afford them.
I don't live anywhere near a clothing shop but count myself fortunate to live 10 mins drive from a foodie one, which means click and collect and easy returns.
Well yes, there is "airing the undercarriage", but commando is cheaper. At home I dare to add.
I stayed with my younger daughter (gen Z) last weekend and she wanted to go shopping. First stop was M&S because she said they now stock really good fashion! It was a big city based shop, it stocked lots of clothes they don't stock at my smaller local branch and they have definitely upped their game fashion wise! I didn't buy anything for myslef as I was looking after the new baby but I did buy him some lovely clothes.
Of course Oreo. Where would we be without facts? (Don't answer that - the "lack of knowledge-based opinion" on here already gives me nightmares
)
Ending at "65+" means they are really looking at those still in the workplace and earning. That seems like good business sense.
If you do a little research you will find that each of the M & S brands appeals to a different demographic. Autograph for instance seem to be a high quality "brand". They were selling cashmere jumpers at £99 last year when another "well known" brand was selling jumpers of equal quality and finish at £150. This gives a very different cost per wear - something I always imagined an "M&S shopper" looked for.

Useful in this hot weather for airing the undercarriage 😂

What about if you have pelvic floor prolapse?
Always carry an umbrella to catch it in
That is actually SO unfunny

I completely agree, GG13 with all you say -that is my experience too. I love the choice of different brands but like any good supermarket they have own brands which are within the price range for many. Just don't expect all their stuff to last forever like it used to if you buy from the cheaper range.
They are in competition with shops that sell very cheap and have to cover the range.
but I'm thinking of the M n s bras that I wear - they don't last forever, they rely on materials elastic based which means it cannot "last forever" as washing inevitably loosens the elasticity in the fibres.
No crotchless thongs here either.
I dress for me not men?

Probably be charged more for less material I would have thought!

I like that you can buy many different brands through M & S, pick them up from a local Food Hall, have a proper try on at home. Anything you do not like or doesn’t fit dropped off at same Food Hall, no charge.
I think the variety of styles of jeans really good, their sportswear is reasonably priced and washes and wears well.
Their school uniform basics are excellent value.
I seem to have purchased a lot from M & S so far this year branded goods and M & S own label.
(Haven’t purchased any crotchless thongs, yet…)

Actually they’d be good for the actresses in dramas where her date for the night, coming into her home for a ‘coffee’ and immediately in a fit of passion placing her on a kitchen countertop and pulling up her dress then has his wicked way with her apparently through his trousers without unzipping anything , routinely shown on on tv.
Perhaps the actors wear crotchless trousers.
Maybe M&S are missing a trick for their mens dept 😁
Ah Daisy you can always be relied on to….😂
I was only talking about women’s clothes not the rest of their goods. The M&S I frequent is full of women aged 60+ pottering round and looking dismayed.I haven’t bought anything from them except groceries for a while now, their bras are ok but for me that’s about it.I used to buy many clothes items there but no more.
It sounds as if M&S in ‘broadening its appeal’ is trying to be all things to all women as an experiment.
It isn’t quality any more anyway no matter what their PR put out, a lot of is is of inferior material, hardly any seams and made in Pakistan or the Philippines or somewhere and just the same as the really cheap stores.
They're not stocked on the racks in store.
I like the adverb used, Crotchless knickers are purely available online on the Mark and Spencer website! Nothing pure or vestal about it!

Do M&S really understand who makes up their customer base?
I often wonder that.
As yours is an opinion, based I would guess, on no real research I would imagine they know their customer - and who they want as their cusomer - better than we do.
If you mean the typical Marks & Spencer (M&S) customer, there isn't a single "M&S customer". The retailer serves millions of people across clothing, home, beauty, and food. However, M&S has traditionally been associated with:
*Adults aged roughly 35–65+, particularly families and professionals.
*Customers who value quality, reliability, and good value over the lowest price.
*Shoppers with middle to upper-middle incomes.
*People buying everyday clothing, premium groceries, and home products from one trusted retailer.
In recent years, M&S has deliberately broadened its appeal. Through updated fashion ranges, collaborations (such as Jaeger), stronger social media marketing, and third-party brands, it has attracted significantly more younger shoppers, especially those under 35. The company has stated that expanding its appeal to younger customers is a key part of its growth strategy.
(This information was from M & S via ChatGBT.)
utbb I agree, this is how GN used to be, wicked humour at its best. It may not appeal to all but I have found most of it funny.

I also prefer comfort to so-called fashion. Can M&S sink any lower? Who is going to buy them?
I don't buy big knickers, but mine are comfortable and cover the relevant parts.
I want really big knickers that come right up to my armpits so |I don't need to wear a bra.

Lace can itch. But of course good ones dont. A band of elastic lace around the top of midis is nice.
This thread is a hoot! thank you all for a load of laughs.
I don't see why not. But I can tell you as in viewing large numbers of bottoms at my gym..... please some ladies ^look at your back view before wearing thongs anywhere but home. Wobbly bottoms in thongs are not a good look and the wobbles are notable under many clothes.
I've never worn them so maybe I am wrong about discomfort. I like "midi's" these days in pretty colours cheer one up.

What’s all this about nobody sees your lacey underwear. Do it for yourself.
If I wore tiny skimpy knickers like that I probably couldn't even see them.

Good for you JenniRen
Hang onto them though 🤣

Franski as Butterandjam said the gap is in the knickers with Tenalady.
