In March, Sir Mark Rowley said that he could understand why women had little to no trust in the Met Police.
Fast forward 5 months and the case surrounding Simon Levy is a prime example of why a huge amount of women feel that way.
The Met and British Transport Police and the CPS have all admitted failings in their handling of this case. This sex offender was supposedly being monitored by the Police who were aware of his sexual assaults on women, many carried out on public transport. For some reason he was allowed bail and downgraded from being high risk towards women. I wonder who sanctioned that decision? Levy went on from there to seriously rape another woman and then murder 2 more. He has finally been found guilty and is expected to receive a whole life tariff when he is sentenced.
Have the Met Police made any significant progress since the watershed case of Sarah Everard? Based on this recent debacle, it doesn't seem like it and Sir Mark Rowley's silence speaks volumes.
