Have been in supermarket this morning and all the newspapers are headlining these mega dinghy photos packed to capacity with approx 230 people. No longer can we call them small boats. Their capacity is now more than a Boeing 737 jet!

More than 3,000 migrants have arrived in 22 days and 80,000 have now arrived under Labour. That is the population of towns like Shrewsbury, Great Yarmouth or Chatham in Kent.

Burnham pledged to sort this out but we have bigger boats arriving and still throwing millions of £ at France who are doing nothing except laughing in his face. He honestly does need to do something and fast.

I do wonder why there isn’t the will to stop this. They say it’s organised crime facilitating all of this. I wonder if politicians from all parties are afraid for their own safety and that of their families from these criminals which is why there is no effort to stop it.
Just a thought. I can see no reason why this allowed.

If you were to listen to just one of the episodes I posted above you might get a handle on understanding who horrendously difficult it is.
I doubt if the people smugglers in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Ethiopia, Sudan etc, etc could even name our Priminister plus they wouldn’t know what an MP is.
Do you know how difficult it is to decode a burner phone ?

No. I haven’t listened to the episodes you posted. I see no other countries being invaded on a daily basis like we are apart from the recent Ceuta incident.

I still think politicians are afraid to tackle this issue. Why, we don’t know. They all know their lives would be so much easier if they did so why don’t they? That’s the conundrum.

I’m not familiar with burner phones Petra. Never used one. For sure migrants in the countries you list may not know our prime minister especially at the rate we change them here. But, the criminals and masterminds operating in the UK most certainly do. There’s food for thought.

No one ( apart from Reform of course) ever said it was going to be a quick fix

A quick fix?

I think everyone has had about 8 years so far?

People throwing questions about boats to Burnham on his trip to Ilkeston today. Is it all some people think about?

It is getting like that.

I think something will blow somewhere, and quite soon.

I'm with you, Cossy. Tired of these repeated threads about asylum seekers.

Brandolini's Law had kicked in.

Just to say, in response to the ridiculous Operation Fortress, there's always tweet.

The second Nigel Farage is removed from politics is the second we can move on as a country.

How awful for you and your 13 year old grandaughter Sarnia. I'm sick of it all our useless government who care more about these foreign men than their own people and I'm sick of the so called woke silly liberal women who support them. I want Reform to win the next general election imop they are our only hope.

That’s utter nonsense and if you re-read the how, when and how much of Reforms Policies, you’ll see they heavily rely of assuming our Royal Navy will take a lead, they’ve already said they won’t, breaking international law and breaking maritime law.

If it was as simple as Farage keeps claiming l, don’t you think both the conservatives and Labour parties would have implemented his policies?

How is he going to PM? He’s not even an MP atm. Even all of his dirty money cannot suddenly “buy” the 350 or so MPs he’d need and Tories have ruled out a coalition and every other party will look at each constituency and vote very tactically.

Have you calculated how many arrived under The Tories?

To put this into perspective, there was one mega dinghy that day. There were no other small boats, and to date the total small boat migrants this year are 43% down on last year, and tracking for the at the lowest number since 2021 currently.

Let’s not let the facts get in the way of another small boats thread though, because there is obviously nothing more important, when it’s the Clacton election tomorrow. It’s as transparent as a window.

Andy Burnham has to be given a chance, in all areas. We will see how he does over the course of the next year.

Someone must have seen all these people getting on this mega dingy, did the French authorities attempt to stop it?
To say we are paying France all this money they aren’t doing a very good job at stopping these boats imo.

The French cops don’t like getting their feet wet apparently 😡

You obviously don't read the papers or watch much French television!

I don’t live in France, nor do I wish to.

It’s clear from the drop in numbers (2024/5) that Labour under Keir Starmer had got a handle on the issue.

However, Keir Starmer wasn’t good enough for the Parliamentary Labour Party🤷‍♀️

No one ( apart from Reform of course) ever said it was going to be a quick fix. But, sadly, that’s what people seem to want and are fooled into thinking it’s possible. The government has to look beyond the boats and that is what, under Keir, they were doing. Along with cooperating with our neighbours, the ones that the previous government ( and Reform) tried to estranged us from.

That not how it works with the big boats, they set off from rivers and places far from surveillance, at night, and people wade into the sea to reach them from various points. As there are people already on board, they can’t be forcibly stopped for fear of loss of life.

Yes, I know the name of the river, the French authorities know the name of the river, but still no one does anything. That's the issue.
It's la Canche by the way. They've only got to find the starting point.

I hope they do find it, but the problem is just going to move elsewhere if they do, there are so many rivers and estuaries. Maybe one solution is greatly increased use of drones at night to track them.

Billions we have given France, I think I'd ask for a refund, of course they are laughing at us and our stupid government. They couldn't spot a Mega Dinghy with 230 on board haha they can't wait to get rid of them they don't want them either. This will be Burnhams downfall, if Farage and Reform were in power they would soon stop this, problem is Burnham hasn't got the balls he's weak.

The French are very clear that tbe mega boats are a response by traffickers to increased numbers of "small boats" being stopped in France! Bigger boats maximise the money made per boat and reduces number of new launch places they have to find as French drones monitoring identifies their launch sites!!

That statement is inaccurate as demonstrated by Daddima. Burnham has been PM for 3 weeks!!! I was no fan of Starmer as PM as I don't think he is a natural leader but all the blame laid on him re small boats was also ignoring the accurate figures!!

My daughter worked on the new computer system tgat has enabled the speed up of the system.
Here is an example of how parts of the home office works.
My daughter has found a fault in the system. She contacts the person she is dealing with.
The replies to her ranged from, X isn’t in the office today, X is on holiday, X is off sick.
Nobody else was dealing with the particular problem my daughter was working on 🤷‍♀️

^if Farage and Reform were in power they would soon stop this,^
How?
By following Sweden's example in imposing stricter measures for entry:
Temporary permits only;
Far tighter citizenship rules based on mandatory language tests & minimum income thresholds;
stricter family reunification measures;
financial and housing criteria raised;
Deportation rules adhered to;
voluntary repatriation offered;

And enforcing them all.

I don't see any of those measures having any effect on deterring
asylum seekers who arrive on small boats. They look to me as though they seek to deter immigrants arriving through official channels.

The title of this thread screams 80,000 arrived under Labour. which would be two years, wouldn’t it?

What it fails to mention is that in the two years to 31 March 2026 almost 80,000 people were deported or left voluntary. Many arrivals are turned around at the port and are never enter allowed to enter.

www.gov.uk/government/statistics/immigration-system-statistics-year-ending-march-2026/how-many-people-are-returned-from-the-uk

Labour were left with a huge problem after the Tories more of less stopped processing people while they faffed around pretending they could send people to Rwanda.

In fact, just days before Sunak called the election, the Rwandan government said they had only agreed to take 200 people to be accommodated in a hostel in Kigali. That is now being used to house deportees from the USA.

Labour quite rightly ditched the scheme and have got on with processing applications. The initial decision asylum backlog fell to 49,000 applications by the end of 2025. That was 46% lower than the year before, and the smallest backlog since 2020.

Andy Burnham says wealthy areas must house more migrants after leafy village revolts over 1,250 asylum seekers (GB News)

Lovely what a vote winner not how about you just stop the Mega Boats carrying 230 men on, I don't want HMO's full of illegal men from God knows where living next to me or my grand daughters wonder if he'll move some next to his wife and kids some hope.

No, Sunshinegirls you don't want illegal men from God knows where.

There is a lovely hotel near me that had a £2.3 refurbishment during Covid. Before they could open to the public it was full of migrants, all single men. 6 years on they are still there. In that time we have had constant issues with them. The most worrying is the way they have treated young girls. Their cultures do not respect women, plain and simple. They are not going to change the way they treat females just because they have arrived in Britain.
To date several men from this hotel have been in court and all for sexual offences ranging from sexual assaults to rape.
I have a 13 year old GD who walks back from secondary school on her own. I collect her every afternoon. She is quite capable of walking home but I fret about her safety, especially as these men openly hang around outside the school gates.
AB is handing the keys to No 10 to Reform and Revolt if this continues.

Does nobody ever look at why these people are still there after six years, rather than hailing Farage as the one who is going to solve the problem?
Initially, there was a huge backlog of asylum seekers waiting for assessment. Asylum seekers, not ‘illegal migrants’. There were no suitably trained staff to carry out these initial assessments, but this seems to have been addressed somewhat, and the backlog has apparently been reduced by 72%.
Then, once an initial application for asylum has been refused, a great many asylum seekers lodge an appeal ( which legally they are perfectly entitled to do), and this process can also take years. This is something people seem to overlook, preferring to believe that the large numbers are due to thousands of boats arriving daily, which, of course, is what Farage and co want them to believe, thereby ensuring he gets into Downing Street, which, sadly, looks like a possibility.

I saw that massive dingy on the news, I don't think France is laughing why would they? They are getting paid and seem to do very little, it would be like killing the golden goose and then eating it

That’s why they are probably laughing at us, as they are taking a huge chunk of money & doing BA to stop these traffickers.
