Yes, Nigel has won the by-election with approximately 1,000 more votes this time than in the 2024 election, according to ITV breakfast news…

Okay Casdon you’re on! Verve Cliquot please 😁

I think it’s very amusing that the Farage haters are scrabbling around like rats in a bin looking for any scraps that they can use to discredit his resounding win. He won - just let it go. The people of Clacton have decided!

Casdon Fri 14-Aug-26 07:43:46

I think it was so he could declare a moral victory ‘My people love me regardless of what misdeeds I carry out’

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Aug-26 07:43:04

Perhaps the tax payer should sue him for wasting everyone’s time?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Aug-26 07:42:22

At our cost?

Tuliptree Fri 14-Aug-26 07:40:33

To delay the inevitable re the £5m

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Aug-26 07:39:24

Does anyone know what the point of this was?

I do not think for one minute NF will stand down. And furthermore I think the inquiry (which is taking a heck of a long time - on purpose? - surely not!) will exonerate him.

Time will tell.

Casdon Fri 14-Aug-26 07:37:00

Sorry, my comment was in response to GrannyGravy13.

Casdon Fri 14-Aug-26 07:36:29

Yes, but that was with no other parties standing, and the full weight of Reform canvassers from all over the country thrown into one constituency. The pundits were saying he would be disappointed if he got anything less than 80% of the vote.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 14-Aug-26 07:35:09

Yet only 25% turned out to vote for mayor of Manchester so maybe Burnham should forget his devolution plans and number 10 north and get down to some serious business.

Oreo Fri 14-Aug-26 07:34:46

He was always going to win the seat, all that it’s accomplished is to kick the financial inquiries down the road a bit.
A gigantic waste of time and money.

Casdon

Farage won the battle, not the war. I think he will actually be disappointed that Binface polled so well. It seems a huge waste of money to spend £350,00 of our money on an election to prove what, that he isn’t quite as popular as he hoped, even in the most ‘Reform’ constituency in the UK?

I have a feeling that he will now claim that he is the moral victor, and will stand down rather than face the inquiries into his and Reform’s finances.

NF got 1,000 more votes this time than in 2024, despite there being a lower turn out…

I think he will be pleased with the result.
Because I am watching less news and politics lately, I have forgotten why he resigned and then went for re-election.
Or was that never properly established?

Exactly FGT.
It is obviously who the people of Clacton want, whatever anyone else thinks, you can't argue with that.
People obviously want change, unless you think the people of Clacton are not of sound mind.

Kandinsky Fri 14-Aug-26 07:26:01

Well he let the people of Clacton decide his fate and they have, with more votes than before.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 14-Aug-26 07:18:41

He did a lot better than Burnham did in Makersfield.

Mamie Fri 14-Aug-26 07:15:46

This from Count Binface:
""In Makerfield eight weeks ago I got 95 votes," he continues. So against Nigel Farage compared to Andy Burnham, I am 1,000 times more popular."
"Does that have anything to do with why he isn't here tonight?" he asks."

Tuliptree Fri 14-Aug-26 07:14:53

Oh FGT to continue resolutely defending the indefensible you do need to read up more about the £5m.

Wyllow3 Fri 14-Aug-26 07:11:14

either or both...

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 14-Aug-26 07:08:32

The Essex police haven’t denied that.
They just haven’t confirmed it.

NF secured a thousand more votes in Clacton’s by election than he did at the GE. And that’s with a much lower turnout.

I’m pleased for him.

Now let’s await the findings of the investigation concerning the £5million donation given to him personally by a benefactor. I think this was given to him before he became an MP? I’ll have to check that.

Tuliptree Fri 14-Aug-26 07:05:14

X posts but worth repeating his lies anyway

Tuliptree Fri 14-Aug-26 07:03:37

Well he’s lied again. He said the police had advised him not to turn up, the police have flatly denied this. Colour me amazed
