Will Farage still be on the ballot next time?
Rather depends on the outcome of the now resumed investigation into his finances.
That's the real Result. 🗳
Is Gransnet leaning more to the left?
I thought we might have a little balance in the headlines for once.

Yes I dont think there is anything more foolish than responding in this way. And then they dare to imply that others are thick.

Reform and Farage may be history by then,
But the voters will remember which party despised them and called them fools.
Memories of being held in contempt last a long, long time.
Personally I wouldn't vote for Farage.
However, I think there is something quite wrong in disparaging people for doing so. There will no doubt be many who were well aware of how their voting intentions are perceived. There could be those who would vote for him out of defiance or cussedness knowing in doing so they're being viewed as the UK's version of the "basket of deplorables"
It's a very high and mighty judgement to make about others.
Nice to know there are thousands of people who still care about this country and live in hope of stopping the take-over.
The people of Clacton voted Farage as there really was no credible alternative. I think they know he hasn't done anything for them but it can be a case of 'better the devil you know'.
How long will Farage last now the enquiries into the 5 million donation have resumed.
I hope the people of Clacton don't have to face another by-election.

Nana8 you really are talking nonsense when you say he might turn out to be reasonably good do you know anything about his politics, or him if you think he’s good then you are liking a misogynist, a cheating, lying racist, who has been likened to how Hitler started out, there are photos of him do the goose step etc etc
Please concentrate on Australian politics.OMG 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Bit of an over reaction there. Take a chill pill!
It’s true, though.

Obvs they are mostly fools, racists and fascists in Clacton. Isn’t that the standard response when you don’t agree with their vote in favour of Farage. What idiots not to elect Count Binface aka Bucket - a name he has used elsewhere wearing a bucket on his head.
Since there are 76,000 registered voters in Clacton and only 22,000 voted for Farage, that is only 30% of the electorate voting for him.
Hardly a resounding victory.
Calling your opponents fools because they disagree with you is such an old hackneyed meme, it isn't worth commenting on.
This is what democracy is People fought hard for votes for women, the working men, then working class women.
I think people are manipulated too but democracy gives people a choice and that choice is their own
The other 54, 000 had plenty of choice to vote elsewhere.
And, back to the real Clacton result,
the investigation into Farage's finances resumes.

Well said.
What I don’t understand is that most people look to America and see Trump for what he is but, when faced with our very own Trump wannabe are prepared to vote for him. As with Trump, not once but twice
.
Vote for reform, you're racist, don't like the boats coming over , you're racist..I hate this attitude, people have the right to vote and think how they like, people also have the right to disagree but to class people as idiots or racists is not nice

Oh get a grip. Not everyone who voted for the man are fools. That is an unwarranted thing to say . You never know, he might turn out to be reasonably good ( not sure there but Andy Burnham is being given a chance and no one knows how he will turn out, either) I think they hate him because he threatens the two main parties, they don’t like change. Not many do.
Thinking you might have forgotten he’s had since 2024 to “prove” himself?

👍👍👏👏👏👏
No accounting for tastes and still people support Trump and people will still support Farage.
Only they, and God, know why. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️

I'm not saying the Clacton voters are fools- their vote and it was their choice between Farage and Count Binface- they were no other real contenders.
I disagree that either main parties or the electorate does not like change- in fact the opposite here in the UK this year. AB has only had a few weeks in the PM job and has three years now to prove himself- early days. Farage has already had 2 years in his Clacton MP role to prove himself.
The UK voted overwhelmingly for change in the May 26 local council elections as it was dissatisfied with Starmer's performance as PM since July 2024. Starmer's poll and LP poll ratings reflected electorate dissatisfaction in his leadership. The country clearly wanted change.
Change did in fact then play out. Starmer resigned, Labour MPs overwhelmingly voted in AB as their new party leader. AB's personal ratings are the highest of any party leader and LP poll ratings increased and the LP has overtaken Reform which now has the lowest poll ratings currently than it has had since 2024 General Election.
That is huge change in just a few months.
So, imo, there’s a MASSIVE difference between “people being fooled” and “people being fools”
At no point have I EVER read DAR calling anyone a “fool”.
If DAR feels these people have been “fooled”, (I happen to agree), she doesn’t think they are fools themselves.
Personally, I have zero idea why a group of anyone, anywhere, would re-vote into office an MP, whose spent the last two years doing sweet FA for Clacton.
It’s a fact, he’s never run a public surgery, he’s never turned up to crucial council meetings discussing how best to spend a large grant that central govt have given to their local authority, he missed 77 consecutive parliamentary votes, he was late submitting paperwork to register many of his vast financial interests.
These are all factual and are in the public domain to check.
He regularly swans off outside of the UK to carry out his 11 other jobs, he’s rarely seen in Clacton, he’s too scared allegedly to appear there, yet is regularly seen in Frinton Cricket Club and a rather nice Restaurant in Great Bentley.
To compound these events, he’s just completely wasted thousands and thousands of ££££ of public money, insisting his public judge him?
The most time wasting, ego feeding event I’ve know from a politician, only to be re-elected, the investigation resumed and for what??
He’s an utter disgrace. (In my opinion, of course)
Because they thought the others were worse, I mean you would think that would give people like DAR pause for thought but no. Bless though.

There were no other main party candidates. Farage's only real competition was Count Binface!
It was Clacton's vote choice and they retain Farage- for now.
I think it’s because he comes over as someone who understands that there are problems which are affecting people’s everyday lives, that are just being ignored or denied by those not experiencing them.
Most people aren’t interested in ideologies or abstract concepts. Their concerns are closer to home.
That’s how he got votes for Brexit. His tactics haven’t changed.
The why he is being listened to isn’t difficult to fathom.
The question really is why voters believe the other parties and politicians are not listening.
If DAR feels these people have been “fooled”, (I happen to agree), she doesn’t think they are fools themselves. I think that's very open to interpretation. Given the title says.....^fool me twice shame on me^ she's not exactly lauding them is she? They should feel shame?
It feels as if the 'progressives' have turned into an authoritarian version of Jacob Rees Mogg ( I am too hot to check the spelling of that).
