Does Farage ever stop (breaking rules)

So up popped my news this morning, yesterday Farage was sworn in (again), then, on the very first day of Parliament this session, went up onto the roof and filmed a social media. Completely against the rules, for extremely obvious reasons.

What is wrong with this man? Surely he, out of everyone, understands the meaning of national security?

His speech is the stuff of lunacy 😮😮

😂😂😂😂 What I loved most was the clearly “fake” security “concerns” and a big burly bodyguard looking under the stage😂😂😂😂

Dorries has always been delusional. Is she still cheer leading for Boris.

Nadine Norris on Channel 4 - she said 'you have to remember Reform is just an emerging party. She said of Orr and Jukes "they didn't know the law" Channel 4 "do you accept what they talked about was illegal? "No but..I am not sure they knew the potential of what they were discussing was illegal"

She's still being absolutely skewered- she's sounding delusional.

If members of Reform don’t know what is legal and what isn’t they shouldn’t be serving politicians. End of.

If his speech was originally designed to portray himself as the next PM, it didn't- just made him look sleazy. Plus using his won words- "boring, boring, boring".

Might Farage’s days be numbered?
Or is he somehow going to slither his way out of the latest financial scandal?
Two senior Reform officials have been thrown under the bus already but can Nige save his own skin?
I do hope not.

Maremia Fri 04-Sept-26 16:50:56

I agree Oreo, and yet even here on GN?

Oreo Fri 04-Sept-26 16:48:58

Boris may well have the glamour but the other two are fairly see through imo.
There’s something just used car salesman about Farage, I only have to see his leathery mug on tv and my hackles go up.

Maremia Fri 04-Sept-26 16:38:45

Perhaps Farage, Trump and Johnston have, in the gaelic meaning of the word, a glamour?
A way of weaving an illusion that hides their true nature.

Samwam- if the Labour Party leader behaved as Farage did in the Channel 4 programme he would be toast. He hasn't. If the PM advisors seeking party donations in the same way Farage's appointed advisors Orr and Jukes behaved they would be toast - they haven't. If they had the Labour Party or any other party would be accused of breaking the law. Same rules, same game.

'Labour Together' is not the Labour Party. The Labour Party has not acted the same as Farage, Orr and Jukes as set out in Channel 4 programme. If you claim they have do let us know how!

Mandelson is in fact currently under police investigation.

JenniRen Fri 04-Sept-26 15:18:56

Samwam, Labour Together, now known as ThinkLabour, is a think tank.

Casdon Fri 04-Sept-26 14:43:18

The difference is that one is a political party. The other isn’t. Surely you knew that?

Samwam Fri 04-Sept-26 14:17:09

Labour the same. What's the difference.

Wyllow3 Fri 04-Sept-26 13:10:37

Well two major players just stepped down and could be up for criminal charges . Down they go…

LemonJam Fri 04-Sept-26 13:07:56

Yes well done to Channel 4 and you've hit the nail on the head Visgirl 12.33- that statement does speak volumes.

Electoral rules and the law applies to all politicians and all parties have had politicians that have been investigated when suspected of actions that breach the rules and law.

Police and other investigations , the same process for everyone and also subject to investigation rules- eg PACE code for police to ensure the person alleged to have breached law/rules is treated fairly. Any sanctions issued are applied in the same way for all.

Farage claims he is a victim, as do many if not the majority who face police of other such formal investigations. The law or the rules do not make that person a victim when that person breaks the law or the rules. It is more the case that those who are adversely impacted by the actions of a person whose behaviour is illegal or breaches electoral rules are the true victims. No legitimate successful UK business will risk their own brand and shareholders support, if they feel their business and brand will put at risk of reputation damage because Farage and the Reform UK brand is tainted and perceived or found to have acted outside the law.

So as legitimate UK businesses and their CEOs began to attend the Reform UK conference yesterday will now be wary after seeing the Channel 4 footage last night. This was the last thing Farage wanted. They can see at first hand, alongside all other viewers Farage's words, values, behaviours and the behaviours of his chosen party leaders who work at his instruction to gain donations. The buck stops with Farage. It is his job to ensure financial systems are in place to ensure all donations received are legal and above board.

Legitimate, successful, UK business leaders will not easily put their own business brand at risk by supporting a seemingly corrupt Reform UK party whose leader does not respect the law- far too risky. That's why the small handful of Reform big £ donors mostly have business interests abroad and can take a punt.

Whatever DARVO statements Farage issues in response to Channel 4's reporting (straight out of the Trump playbook) he will behind the scenes no doubt be spiting feathers at Channel 4's calculated timing to release this under cover footage- just as trying to woo such business leaders at his party conference today and just before his key note speech later this afternoon. He may have excluded some media reporters but rest assured every single one that remains today will have this footage in their fore thought.

In today's Times... Reform are basically funded by foreigners who want to undermine the uk. Well done, to Channel 4 their undercover reporter has a direct quote “we just don’t have British resident donors that would support us. That’s the grim reality”
That statement should speak volumes.

And boasting about how they could bypass the system to attract funding illegally. Give Farage enough rope..........

There is too much factionalism and infighting in Reform for it to survive. Factionalism happens in other parties, of course, but in a tiny party such as Reform, it’s remarkable. Or perhaps not when every one of the senior figures is a person seemingly driven by grievance and hate.

Look at how Jukes speaks of Jenrick in the Verbatim film and what Rob Lammas described recently when he finally saw Reform for what it is. He described it as run like a mafia. This is a party that reckons it will be ready to govern in 2029 (or sooner of Burnham were to call a snap election.) I don’t think so.

The Westminster Tory defectors are all currently predicted to lose their seats in a GE along with Sarah Pochin. That would leave Anderson and Tice, assuming they were re-elected.

Anderson is on record saying he doesn’t plan to stay in Westminster politics for much longer. Tricky Dicky would rather be living in Dubai with Oakeshott.

Reform was technically insolvent under Tice’s management. It was only Farage parachuting back in on a carpet of Harborne’s and Cottrell’s money that kick-started the revival. Without foreign donations it cannot survive. It’s a foreign-funded cult that will end when Farage is gone or measures are taken to cut off its money supply.

The hardcore racists will drift to Restore, if they haven’t already done so. But Lowe is too old to spearhead anything with any longevity and he’s only interested in two things -mass deportation and non-white rape gangs.

Some on the right will drift back to the Tories, especially now Badenoch has promoted hard-right Andrew Griffith and Katie Lam. Many former Tory voters will continue to feel homeless.

Galaxy Fri 04-Sept-26 12:07:31

Actually I think that's possible depending on what path the Tories take, but I think it is also possible that Restore ( or whatever name the next one has) will just replace Reform.

Casdon Fri 04-Sept-26 12:02:30

I guess we’ll see, but on the evidence of the polls, opinion is shifting back to the Tories, they have been creeping up a point at a time for the last few months at the expense of Reform. They beat them in the latest poll, in fact. It’s hard to regain the faith of the public once it’s lost, but if Reform continue to be best by scandal my bet is that the Tory comeback will continue.

Galaxy Fri 04-Sept-26 11:58:24

I don't think public opinion is shifting though, I think that vote is consistent and wont be going anywhere.

Casdon Fri 04-Sept-26 11:53:30

It would be great if this makes people think twice about falling for the cult of personality. We all do so, often against mounting evidence that we should jump ship. It’s hard to admit when you’re wrong, but public opinion is shifting because more people realise there is no golden bullet to solve the position the UK is in.

foxie48 Fri 04-Sept-26 11:19:31

Farage and Johnson were both successful self publicists with some charisma, if you like that sort of thing. If Farage disappears off the political scene, they will have to replace him and tbh I don't think there's anyone around who could successfully take Farage's place. IMO Rupert Lowe is not at all likeable and only really appeals to a small core of voters who have extreme views also Lowe does not have political savvy in the same way as Farage.

Galaxy Fri 04-Sept-26 10:55:08

What do people think it will solve though? Farage is a low rent Johnson and it was probably always going to end this way. He will be replaced by a new leader, or Restore will replace reform in voting behaviour.
