Does Farage ever stop (breaking rules)

So up popped my news this morning, yesterday Farage was sworn in (again), then, on the very first day of Parliament this session, went up onto the roof and filmed a social media. Completely against the rules, for extremely obvious reasons.

What is wrong with this man? Surely he, out of everyone, understands the meaning of national security?

AGAA4 Thu 03-Sept-26 16:32:04

Farage does want to be as much.like his idol as possible even trying to achieve the orange look.
A lot of good he is doing for Clacton in the US. They would have been better off with anybody else.

….and now he’s in America again I believe…

Of course he is.
Never happier than when getting pointers from the maestro of rule breaking and hogging the media with absolute drivel. No doubt his constituents will be happy with him for spending more time over the past couple of years in the US than with them, afterall they voted for him, again.
Perhaps Trump could rename Farage ‘Nigel Trump’ has a certain ring to it

Describes Farage perfectly.

Like Trump, he has realised that all publicity is good. As long as he's in the public eye, he demands (and is given) enough oxygen to survive and grow. And here am I, giving him a little bit more... But what can we do? If we publicise him as a fool, he survives at the forefront of our minds. If we ignore him, he sneaks in anyway, apparently harmlessly because nobody cared enough to comment. Some of the most destructive people in history have looked and behaved like laughable idiots, giving us something to make jokes about while they steal away everything we hold dear.

Another excuse for him not to turn up to parliament

He's one of these people who pushes boundaries to see how far he can go, No one stops him, total loose cannon, and he gets away with it!
He is always just this side of the rules /laws. Just wish someone could squash him. I really hope he comes a cropper, fully understand why some people gravitate to him, apparently very charming with it.

I have worked with a few people who have done this, absolute nightmare to manage.

I so agree, if he ever got into no. 10 his voters would be horrified at his policies, just like they were with Boris. Some people vote for someone they like and only belatedly learn what they stand for.

Snollygoster - what a wonderful word flump - we should start a Gransnet campaign to bring that back.

Looking through some lists of words no longer in use, I found three that might be applied to Farage

Snollygoster. A shrewd, unprincipled person, especially a politician.

Fudgel. Pretending to work while actually doing nothing.

Gnashnab. A constant complainer.

He's a fully paid up disciple of Trump and follows his examples to the letter.

Weasly idiot.

Ooo, is he orange, tan wise? Yuk.
Triffic.

News today, he was saying petulantly "I'm a victim of a complaining society" (BBC R4 interview)

Over 5 million - and more in the pipeline.
Pathetic whining.

Remember what he said in his resignation speech:

… a chance to stick two fingers up to the entire establishment …

Having re-sworn his allegiance the King - the embodiment of the establishment - he deliberately flouted the rule about where filming may take place on the Parliamentary Estate. He will have been perfectly aware of this as all MPs are. Moreover, he will know that Lee Anderson has been censured for this in the past.

It was a publicity stunt, nothing more. The narcissist, who must be the centre of attention at all times, cannot bear that Andy Burnham has the spotlight this week.

Why is Reform holding it’s conference this week, the week when Parliament returns after the summer recess? The House of Commons rises again on 15 September 2026 and does not return until 12 October 2026 specifically so that political parties can hold their annual conferences in that period. But Reform ? Of course not. They have to be seen to be flouting convention. What was it they called themselves back in summer 2024? Foxes in the henhouse. It’s all part of the performance. Most sensible people can see through it.

They are like the boys driving you mad repeatedly kicking a football again a wall or garage door. The more you ask them to stop they more they do it. It’s best to ignore them. They are soon bored.

Farage has been behaving this way since he was a schoolboy and getting away with it. He’s even more insufferable now he has an entourage of sycophants applauding his every action, but I think he’s also tired and bored. He and Reform are out of ideas - not that they ever had many. They desperately need the small boats to keep coming. Their careers depend on it. He will continue to travel around the country with his tent shows, trotting out the same tedious patter he’s been doing for years. If people pay to watch it, more fool them. In another time, he would have been a tacky comedian on the northern club circuit telling tired jokes about wives and mothers-in-law.

Meantime, his beard or flying monkey, the unelected Zia Yusuf is busy posting the things that Farage dare not. His tweet about Camden Council’s leader Sagal Abdi-Wali is disgusting,

If he gets any more tanned his own Party will want to deport him.

😂

Very good!

I agree with WWM and Cossy that his relationship with Russia is deeply concerning. The rest of it seems to me to be designed to appeal to the 'stick it to them' side of his support base - the ones who feel ignored and let down by successive governments, and have been conned into thinking he is a 'man of the people'.

It’s his dealings with Russia that worries me, particularly with the current situation.

Indeed.

Will Farage ever stop breaking rules- stop thinking they don't apply to him, worry about national security above himself. Short answer- no.

Primrose53 Wed 02-Sept-26 16:45:59

My friend is even more tanned than NF. People keep asking her where she has been on holiday but she stayed home this year as she is awaiting an operation so her tan is totally due to working on her allotment.

Some people tan very easily. My Dad was the same. He worked outside and only had to look at the sun and he was golden brown. When Mum was in hospital the lady next to her saw him and said “I didn’t realise your husband was a Pakistani”. We teased him about that for years!
