Reported BBC.
Hundreds of people dressed in black with balaclavas have stopped access, I can’t see who they are.

Some posters seemingly don't want to listen or acknowledge what this government has achieved in relation to reacting to asylum seeker arrivals.

On the contrary, some posters accuse the government of not listening to public concerns despite the improved achievements as outlined- entirely wishing to ignore such factual data.

Instead

People are upset by illegal immigration, no one listens.

Exactly. This is the whole point. It’s not about masks or any kind of uniform. It’s because most people are extremely concerned about illegal migration and the government aren’t listening.

Plenty of people, some on GN aren’t listening, I’ll give you that. Numbers are dropping for the asylum seekers in and increasing for those on their way and out, published statistics ignored by many.
Danny Thomas, aka Tommo, , is the manipulator behind and in front of the scenes, another one with a criminal record, leading the rent a mob in Portsmouth yesterday. They were not a silent protest, but brainwashed and almost feral, very sad and concerning.

Casdon 20.43- that made me smile...

& yet here we Grans are on News & Politics, all thanks to the Suffragette movement, who weren’t exactly peaceful!

Casdon Mon 07-Sept-26 20:43:36

Ah, that must be why they are achieving such a reduction in the numbers coming by small boat, and sending more people who have no right to be here out of the country then. They just aren’t listening - they should realise that parting the seas and creating a magical one way path back to France is the only way forward, and just get on with it…

LemonJam Mon 07-Sept-26 20:42:49

What evidence is there that the government is 'not listening' and not doing anything about legal migration and the arrival of asylum seekers?

Ahh yes Rosie51, Emma Thompson, another hypocrite, along with the likes of H & M 🙃

Casdon Mon 07-Sept-26 20:32:04

The man who organised the protests. First story on link below.

The two events are linked, watch Danny Thomas telling people to go to Portsmouth. I expect that facial recognition will link the same people to both events, and some of them are likely to be arrested.

Who’s he?

Also those people on Palestinian marches were wearing face coverings, not burkas but those scarfs they wear.

All my posts today focus on refer to Portsmouth protesters- thats fine.

sundowngirl Mon 07-Sept-26 20:13:57

I have never mentioned Portsmouth just that the protest in Dover was peaceful. Violence is never acceptable and I have never said it was

LemonJam Mon 07-Sept-26 20:05:44

Do you not accept that some police were injured- some police vehicles were damaged, that the protesters blocked the safe passage of the asylum seekers rescued at sea after a long channel crossing on a dinghy until 3am in the morning and that the protestors broke through a police cordon sundowngirl?

Nothing wrong with standing up and peacefully protesting 'enough is enough' that is not what these protestors were doing.

They were peacefully protesting in Dover

Lots of things are being done about small crossings. No evidence whatsoever that 'nothing is being done'.

The government may not be acting as how you would wish- but we are in a democracy and all can exercise their vote at the next GE.

Casdon Mon 07-Sept-26 18:41:52

They were not all masked Aveline, but some were, you can see them on the Sky News Report. The organiser of the Dover protest is on video encouraging those who attended that to go to the protest in Portsmouth. Masks hide the identities of people who already have criminal records for inciting violence.

LemonJam Mon 07-Sept-26 18:40:28

Most of the Portsmouth protesters were reported to be wearing balaclavas as can be seen in the video footage. They were specially called for a designated purpose.

BBC website 2 hours ago- article titled 'Small boat protest explained: How a Channel crossing sparked unrest' :

"Hampshire Police said a small number of police officers were injured and vehicles were damaged, with an investigation now underway to identify those responsible. The government said people had a right to peaceful protest but condemned 'intimidating and thuggish behaviour".

I can't find anything on the BBC website that states the BBC 'struggled to find a local who didn't agree with the protest"- do you have an article reference? I would imagine the vast majority of the Portsmouth population were in bed at the time and did not witness it. I can't find any media article that describes this unrest in Portsmouth as 'peaceful protest either.

Kandinsky Mon 07-Sept-26 18:34:39

Good for them - it’s about time we stood up and said ‘enough’s enough’
Nothing will be done to stop the boats unless people protest in their 1000’s.

Aveline Mon 07-Sept-26 18:29:15

The Portsmouth protesters were not all masked and many seemed to just be local people who spontaneously reacted when they heard about the boats' arrivals. The BBC struggled to find a local who didn't agree with the protest.

Casdon Mon 07-Sept-26 18:27:12

There is an element of the British public who are unable to take on board that complex problems require complex solutions, which by the nature of the problem, will be imperfect. Basic application of logic would reveal that this is not a tap that can be turned off. Do people not realise how big the coastline is? Do they really think that France should keep everybody who is trying to get to the UK? Do they think we can just ‘send them back’? Do they not appreciate that if illegal migrants don’t arrive by small boats they will find other ways - and so on.

LemonJam Mon 07-Sept-26 18:14:44

Thats a myth put forward by some without evidence.
