An interesting article
"Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the UAE president, initiated an “unusual” and long call directly with Netanyahu from the presidential palace in Abu Dhabi, according to a report of the book published in the Haaretz newspaper on September 8.

During the 45-minute call, bin Zayed warned that the Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, was planning a “major operation” against Israel that could “destabilise the entire region”.

This could explain why the information from the female IDF spotters was ignored and why Israeli forces were so slow in responding to the calls for help from the Israelis being attacked. Netanyahu has still not answered the questions that were asked of him immediately after the dreadful attack by Hamas and it seems there could be more questions to answer. Interestingly, UAE has not commented.

If true, this is serious.

I expect that it was known that hamas were planning something more than usual but it couldn’t know exactly what or where or how anything would be carried out.
You must remember that hamas and hezbollah were sending missiles into Israel all the time.

Of course everyone is an expert now and fond of conspiracy theories.

I don't quite understand what you are saying here, foxie. I don't see that advance warning of a major Hamas operation explains why the female spotters were ignored and the Israeli forces were slow to respond.

(Well, I do understand the implication but is that actually what you were meaning to imply?)

Smileless2012 Tue 08-Sept-26 17:04:13

Nothing to do with conspiracy theories Oreo.

Reports from female IDF spotters of unusual and increased activity on that border were ignored and there has never been any explanation as to why.

And most of those poor women did not survive the attack.

MaizieD After the attack I posted evidence of Netanyahu saying that he was deliberately letting Hamas strengthen their position because he wanted them to be a counter balance to the PA. That is not under dispute. There is evidence that spotters information was ignored but who made that decision is unclear. It is also known that it took hours for the IDF to arrive at the scene of the horrible attacks by Hamas on 7/10 but again no one has explained why this happened. I think it would be easy to put these things together and draw a conclusion which may or may not be correct. Netanyahu and his government needs to answer these questions, not me but he is very good at dodging questions. This latest claim is yet another thing that needs investigating. What I would point out is that those who died in the Hamas attack were left wing and not supporters of Netanyahu and his government. The war is enabling Netanyahu to stay in power and enabled minority extremist groups to commit ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and increase the number of illegal settlements. As the UK government has been clear that it considers the actions on the West Bank to be illegal and ethnic cleansing I feel confident to use that expression. It has also enabled Israel to occupy nearly 70% of Gaza and effectively destroy normal life for 2 million Palestinians. A happy accident for Netanyahu or part of a plan?

I’ve been saying this for a long time. In fact, not knowing about this report I mentioned it to my partner just now as we were watching Netanyahu on the news.

Smileless2012 Tue 08-Sept-26 18:11:58

So have I MayBee and today I'm actually proud of our Government's stand.

MaizieD Tue 08-Sept-26 19:31:46

Quite, MayBee70 and Smileless2012, I did too.

I have watched the the Israeli treatment of the West Bank Palestinians with disgust over a number of years and I, too, am glad that the government has made this move.

Thanks for your clarification, foxie48. There are indeed questions to be asked.
