Personally I consider him also to be a self seeking narcissist of a kind, attention seeking and enjoying taunting authorities and using police time and other authorities time better spent maybe sorting out some of the sexual offences so prevalent in our population

I am especially troubled with the links with the current regime in the US in terms of funding his causes in the UK.

Two tier sentencing again.
An anti migrant protestor and father of 2 has been rushed to court and sentenced to 2 years in prison for throwing a plastic bottle at Police and swearing at them.

Meanwhile an Ethiopian asylum seeker who after just 8 days in our country sexually assaults a 14 year old girl and a woman. He gets 12 months! To make matters worse he was released by mistake just a month later.

If people are demonstrably breaking the law they will be arrested and charged. It’s a pretty simple equation. Thomas realised that I imagine.

People are allowed to be angry, they can engage in civil disobedience - what the state via the police will not allow them to do is encourage others into violent behaviour that is specifically designed to do just that. Angry mobs engaging in violent acts leads to increasing unrest. It doesn't matter how angry you are or how much you feel that anger is understandable - the Force's job isn't just to protect people, it's also to protect the peace and to protect property.

Disregarding the moral aspect of Thomas' act, it's one that's aimed at breaching the peace, and no government, Left or Right, is going to tolerate acts that could be the beginning of mob rule, creating instability and ultimately, to the possibility of civil war.

I get it about possibly endangering the life of the person who got on board after Tommo was slashing the dinghy. What I don’t get is how it is criminal damage to a dinghy that is owned by criminal traffickers.

How can he be jailed for damaging an illegal craft, used for illegal purposes, when no one on board. Maybe the traffickers will be awarded damages, who knows.

Once seized the craft becomes evidence, it is the property of the police, not the traffickers.

Thank you Graphite ‘presumed innocent until proven guilty’ seems a difficult concept for some to understand.

That concept applies to every person charged with an offence or offences. It is up to the prosecution to present the evidence and prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt.

Past convictions are generally inadmissible unless a defendant pleads guilty.

If you watch the video you see an official stepping aboard the rib (rigid inflatable boat) as Thomas approaches. He slashes at the rib shouting at the man to get off.

You don’t just leave craft afloat in a major shipping channel either intact or deflated as torn debris floating in the water. That would be a hazard to other craft especially at night.

The officials were there to take the craft to shore, in this case back to France where it would have either been destroyed and/or used as evidence against traffickers.

Part of the ongoing work against trackers is to establish the sources of rib supply and cut it off. It’s why traffickers are now using larger craft as international law enforcement agencies have been making inroads into the supply of smaller craft.

Thomas has no official capacity. He was interfering, preventing officials from doing their jobs.

Whatever we think of either of these men, they are entitled to a fair trial.

I think it's important to "out" this behaviour actually because despite strong feelings no one is lying or inventing facts to try to incite each other, rather , "Fact find".

As regards the laws,
as regards who if anyone was on the boat etc.
As regards who funds Tommo's activities. All facts not speculation.
