Will Labour backing rejoining be the “end” or the “making” of them??

It makes security sense just now.
It makes trade sense as well.
May I once more enquire, 'What did BREXIT do for us?'

You see, in my view, this suggestion of being in “deference” to the EU, can, if it actually ever existed, be firmly blamed on our lazy and ineffective MEPs!

I'm sure it was said on the BBC lunch time news that AB has said there would need to be another referendum to re join the EU, or have I got that wrong?

Personally, I don't agree that we need to be in deference to the EU. It would of course be beneficial to improve trade relations but even without EU membership as we are geographically part of Europe so that alone should make us allies as we were before the EU existed.

We weren't allies before the EU existed. We had just come out of a world war in which various European countries were on opposing sides and there is a long, long history of European countries fighting each other.

The originator of the EU, the European Coal and Steel Community, was a post war initiative to try to bring European states together to avoid future European wars. It wasn't just a trading thing, it was a peace project.

If we don't rejoin the EU but see ourselves as part of a European defensive pact then we risk not being able to make our voices heard (GG13 might not agree grin). We're not that special...

I’m utterly biased as in both a LP supporter and voted remain.

However, what are the views and opinions of others?

AB has stated recently “re-joining” is not on the cards this Parliament.

But what if it’s included in the next manifesto?

Would that be the end of Labour?

My own view is it wouldn’t!

Despite the very vocal radical right, I’ve seen and heard people state they’d vote differently if there was another referendum (not that there legally needs to be one)

The referendum was pretty close and I believe it would be a different result if it was now, two main reasons, 1) more young people who couldn’t vote then are eligible now, more elderly right wing voters are no longer with us, 2) a small percentage of Leave voters are now Re-Join.

What do you all think and want?

For me, the EU need to be our allies in both trade and deference and we are geographically part of Europe, so it’s a Yes from me. thanks
