Trump and Ukraine

A lot in the US are concerned how much Ukraine is costing them, reasoning that more needs spending at home. Also if it escalates US boots on the ground will be needed they have had enough of that in Afghanistan. Ukraine is no threat to the US and they think Europe should be more responsible for their own defence.

Defence industries in the US are of course making a lot of money from Ukraine and indeed Gaza wars

Trump has said what a lot of Americans want to hear.

Trump doesn't understand the concept of aid- except when he's boasting about how many donations he's received for his campaign.

Putin has masterminded the whole thing, has Trump on strings, and attempted to split Europe by assissting the Brexit propaganda.

Trump and Farage admire Putin because they see him as a strong leader, a proper masculine figurehead who gets things done.

Europe should be worried, but NATO will survive the idiots seeking to dimember it, and so will Ukraine. This is what Trump and Farage fear most- they are lightweights who don't understand Russia and only seek to gain something for themselves by supporting Putin. He would chew them up in a second and throw what's left out of the highest window in Trump tower.

Trump tends to be an isolationist so it doesn’t surprise me. The Ukraine is a long way away from the US. Similar to World War 2 - who knows what would have happened if the Japanese hadn’t attacked the US? They weren’t rushing to get involved with Europe until then. He seems to prefer closing the doors to Mexicans, first things first.

It’s understandable voters hear what Trump is saying The US spend 3.5% of GDP on defence most of Europe spend half that. If the UK and Europe is so concerned they should spend more to counter any threat from Russia.

The pressure of migration from Central America is intense they need to invest more to improve lives within those countries so that migration is less attractive.

It is europe that will be on the front line and the U.K. in particular according to past statements by Putin.

That is why we need to ensure closer working and an increase in spend on armaments.

Trumps cosy relationship with Putin in the past gives me no confidence. In the UK we've tried to help Ukraine every which way - refugees, arms.

Its a typical claim that he and he alone (of course) could "sort out" this issue.

Trump is a loose (and dangerous) cannon and appeals only to a select, but sadly large, portion of US citizens. Many don’t support him though, including some Republicans. IMO, he is truly bonkers. The US Presidential system is very odd particularly allowing a convicted criminal to run for office!

I'm pretty sure a 24 hour solution would include a deal where Ukraine sacrifices the Crimea and similar territories. But Trump is an isolationist. He'll probably withdraw again from the WHO as before.

Biden, for all his faults, looks at the US within a world perspective which is necessary in the long term.

He certainly has no love for this country, in fact he does seem to be seeking to destroy it and the lemmings made it easy for him by voting to leave the EU.

The problem we have now is that Russia has now geared up for war production, sanctions have had no effect, they probably have cost the UK and EU more than Russia., and pushed them closer to China in the process. When it come to resources dont underestimate Russia they have more oil, gas and minerals available than Europe, only the US can match them.

We all support Ukraine but how far do we go.

Trump is only the last in a line of US Presidents (including Obama) who advised the Europeans to spend more in defence. Most of them didn't bother despite benefitting from NATO.
