I don't know if he actually wants it, but the speculation mill says he will give the go ahead for new drilling.
It seems a bit pointless really as there isn't a great deal of North sea oik left and having our own won't make any difference to our energy prices because it is always sold on the global market.
However, so long as the green agenda goes ahead, perhaps with more investment on climate proofing houses and putting solar on public buildings etc. the drilling won't hurt our economy and could provide some jobs. It might have been a sop to the Unite union, their leader was threatening disaffiliation if jobs in the North sea didn't materialise wasn't she?
I don't approve but it's not a hill I would die on...
