What do you think when you saw the pictures of the Archbishop of Canterbury — an avowed “feminist” and first woman in the post — handing an award to Imam Hafiz Ashrafi, a fan of Osama bin Laden, at Lambeth Palace on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 ?
Was it the irony of the award? Or the equally grotesque irony of the timing, - the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks?
Was it Ashrafi himself who praised Osama Bin Laden, the architect of the 2001 9/11attacks - as someone who had "been fighting for Islam against the Russians, Americans and British", in comments from 2007?
Or was it the image of his wife, I believe, veiled from head to foot and his daughter with her face obscured, as a illustration IMO of female oppression which is impossible to justify in a modern civilised society?
