Can I be the first to predict the name? I think they will go with traditional.
Alice for a girl.
George for a boy.

My GN is George but called Doddie (He lives in Aberdeenshire).
My DGS is Alexander but always called Sandy
My DGD1 is Kate

I wish these Royals would stop copying our names wink

My DS1 is Alexander but is known as Alex.He was named after DH's late father.
My DGD3 is Georgia. She was born on the anniversary of her mother's grandfather's death and his name was George.
We don't have a Louis in the family though.
My DGD4 is called Kate.
My paternal grandfather's real name was Francis but for some reason he was always known as Harry.

Please excuse this drivel but some of my family's names are my only connection with royalty.Have got to get my oar in somehow.

There is a tea shop in Bucklebury. Off we go. smile

We will visit the general store and look at their supply of nappies and baby wipes.

It's gonna be a fun afternoon.

I was on a train yesterday with some thirty something office workers off to the Isle of Wight on a team building exercise/jolly. In the course of conversation one of them mentioned what the new baby was to be called and most of the others expressed surprise: they hadn't heard that he had been given a name. They immediately turned to another topic. Passing interest only -certainly no excitement from that age group.

Ginny , they don"t live round here either, not a peep !

j08 Thu 25-Jul-13 22:34:46

Too far to go on bike. Bunting can be arranged though. smile

ginny Thu 25-Jul-13 22:20:59

I have been out and about over the last couple of day and I can't remember anyone talking about the birth or the names. I wonder where all these people who are so excited about it live. Certainly not around here.

Ella46 Thu 25-Jul-13 20:52:26

With bunting................

Ana Thu 25-Jul-13 20:51:19

You can go on your bike....

j08 Thu 25-Jul-13 20:39:45

Oh. Wow! Thanks Gadabout. smile We will drive very slowly. And then go round again.

GadaboutGran Thu 25-Jul-13 20:10:46

Some very noisy police helicopters circling over where I live must be keeping little Georgie awake. At a cost of £900 an hour I think there should be a tax on foreign paparazzi to pay for them (I say foreign because UK press usually keep to the agreement not to take prying shots).
We're unlikely to get much police response to any burglaries for a while.
j08 - for the next 3 weeks you can drive past the front gate of Middletonia but you can't stop.

Faye Thu 25-Jul-13 18:08:43

I prefer three given names too, my ex, my son and two of my grandsons have three given names.

j08 Thu 25-Jul-13 17:53:34

nanaej he doesn't call himself that. Just us grownups. So we must all sound like toddlers.

Perhaps you could say that about any name shortening.

hummingbird Thu 25-Jul-13 10:38:48

I hope he's sweeter, kinder, less grumpy and much less violent than MY George. (My cat) smile

nanaej Thu 25-Jul-13 10:32:04

I find 'xander' sounds as if it is a toddler unable to say the name properly! I much prefer Alex! Good job we all like different names else we'd get confused if we were all called the same!

KatyK Thu 25-Jul-13 10:09:42

I love the name George. Only because I was in love with George Harrison.
And then there's Clooney of course.

j08 Thu 25-Jul-13 09:50:03

I think they should let everone use Alexander. I don't like George.

But shorten it to 'xander. NOT Alex! The other grandparents call ours "Alex", and I don't like it!

nanaej Thu 25-Jul-13 09:39:48

As it has been reported that Alexander is the name Kate particularly likes perhaps she will use Alex at home and G for official stuff.

Sook Thu 25-Jul-13 09:32:21

Louis is one of Prince Williams Christian names. I rather like it.

Ella46 Thu 25-Jul-13 08:55:52

Sorry, but I hate the name George! My dd was going to use it if she had a boy, and I had to bite my lip for 6 months.
She had two girls, thank goodness smile

nonnasusie Thu 25-Jul-13 08:52:02

They must have named him after my dog, George!!grin

Joan Wed 24-Jul-13 23:21:07

George Alexander Louis, or to give him his full title:-

His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.

Faye Wed 24-Jul-13 22:44:24

No anno I just like those names.

Ana Wed 24-Jul-13 22:43:11

Yes - don't give them advance warning. One (or more) of them might be reading this...

j08 Wed 24-Jul-13 22:41:48

Or I might go Friday.
