I believe that someone once said when (I think) George Gershwyn died "I don't have to believe it if I don't want to" and that sums up exactly how I felt when I heard that Victoria Wood was dead. I consider myself to be a pretty unemotional sort, but the news made me shed a tear. She was so bl**dy funny! The thought of 'The ballad of Freda and Barry (Let's do it.)' has me in fits no matter how often I hear it. I can't think of another comedian who was so consistently funny, never in a cruel way, and so talented as a writer and musician. The word genius is used so often, but surely, if it applies to anyone in this day and age it must apply to her. RIP Victoria.
