Just brilliant, I burst out laughing at the reveal! Great ad!

I was amazed to find that it was John Lewis and Waitrose, though who else would be as audacious. My inside informer tells me that it is a launch of a joint advertising programme for the partnership which hitherto has always has separate advertisements for big occasions. Judging by reactions on this thread, it is clearly very successful.

Where the JL/Waitrose ad has not quite succeeded, apart from being entertaining, is that people will see it as "a John Lewis ad". At the end it shows the two companies' names together as a partnership which they are and always have been.

Annodomini, John Lewis sent an email with the ad. If I understood it right, the partners refers to all the staff. They have always been called partners and the inclusion in the name is to recognise them.

I just found it on Youtube - it is really great. And, basically, there is nothing they are doing that any school couldn't do, given a microphone, a hairdryer and a few egg cartons.

Saw it last night and loved it. They will have a hard time topping that for the big C.........!!! Unless of course, they use the same advertising team who thought this one up.

I'm still confused and unimpressed. What on earth has this got to do with a chain of department stores and supermarkets? In actual fact the main thing missing for me in John Lewis and Waitrose is a personal approach!!
I'm sure they're happy with the slogan. I'd be happier if they lived up to it!
