Magpies in the garden

I have never seen any magpies in our garden until this last week.
I bought a bag of dried cat biscuits some time ago for the hedgehogs which visit us but they didn't take to them.
It seemed such a waste so I decided to see if our local birds would eat them when soaked.
Our usual rooks came down and loved them and now I noticed we have magpies visiting.
It seems magpies have a bad reputation but why?.

They bully other birds and kill fledglings!

I too have magpies visiting the garden. They are beautiful birds.
I am told they will raid nests and eat the baby birds, but surely that is just nature. After all everything has to eat.

They're very aggressive - I once saw 2 magpies attack a cat!
They're also thieves, used to steal eggs from our nesting boxes.

We get loads of magpies. I don't like them or the way they cackle.

We get plenty of magpies too. I'm amazed at how big they are.
