E scooters - how do you feel about them?

I have just read about a three year old girl being involved in a accident with an e-scooter, she has been left with life changing injuries. It happened in London. This is not the first accident I have read about. There are more of them in the cities, but we need urgent laws to protect innocent people. They are being used dangerously causing serious injury and also for crime, bag snatching for one. They are supposed to be restricted on speed, but the ones I have seen certainly weren’t conforming!

The people who ride them take no notice of people on the footpaths.
I was walking my old dog, a large border collie, who absolutes them about a week ago. A man in his thirties, who lives in next close, went hurtling by us, causing myself and the dog to fall onto the grass verge.
He didn't stop and wasn't bothered.
Luckily neither myself or my dog were injured but l did shout at him. But it could easily have been a child that he knocked down.
