KatGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 21-Oct-13 10:46:05

This thread is for the 100 gransnetters who have been chosen to trial No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum.

Here’s what Boots had to say, “No7 is the UK’s leading skincare brand. NEW No7 Restore& Renew Day & Night Serum is specifically formulated for more mature skin and actively targets the five key signs of ageing: wrinkles, lack of firmness, uneven pigmentation, fragility and dull skin. In clinical trials, after four weeks of use, both light-reflecting characteristics and levels of natural moisture return to similar levels of younger skin. New Restore & Renew Day & Night Serum is our fourth clinically proven serum meaning that we have a clinically proven serum for every stage of a woman’s life. We have had great results from our clinical trial and user testing, but we’d love to hear what gransnetters think about the product as well.”

We’d like you to use the product each day and night for at least four weeks, but preferably for the full eight weeks. Feel free to post your feedback on this thread as often as you like while using the serums.

When you're ready please answer the following questions:

Q1: What were your overall impressions of No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum?

Q2. After using Restore & Renew Day & Night serum for four weeks, how significantly has your skin changed in the following areas? If so please give details.
· Lines and wrinkles
· Firmness
· Pigmentation
· Fragility
· Skin’s radiance

Q3. The RRP for No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum is £24.95, do you think you'd be likely to buy the product again or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the serums to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Everyone who adds their feedback to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a No7 skincare bundle worth over £100.

Please note, Boots may use any comments posted on this thread in marketing, editorial and/or promotional material so please only post if you are happy with this.

Thanks and good luck,

GNHQ

I too sliced open the tube and scooped the remains out with the end of my toothbrush, I will certainly now buy some more, life is not the same without it. So used to using No7 serum every night and morning. Off to Boots tomorrow.

Grannyknot Thu 12-Dec-13 10:57:08

Coincidentally, I just sliced open my day cream tube to use the last bit.

Overall I am very happy with the product and the effect it has on my skin. Not having been much of a serum user before, I shall be buying it on a regular basis, I'd recommend to others. Thank you for the opportunity to test this product.

I'd love to know what size pea those whose serums lasted 8 weeks used!
Mine lasted about 5 weeks and I'm missing it now its finished. My skin looked somehow fresher and clearer when I was using it. I would buy more on a 3 for the price of 2 offer and hope that will coincide with the next time that I'm in the UK

kittylester Thu 12-Dec-13 07:56:23

I have found that using serum means I need to use less moisturiser and foundation so there could be a cost saving there that makes the serum good value. sunshine

I enjoyed taking part in this trial. The serum glides on very smoothly and makes the skin feel silky smooth and hydrated. I think my skin glowed more and certainly felt fresher. I would recommend it but I think that for someone on a pension, it is quite expensive. I would also like to try it for longer. Really glad I had the opportunity though. Thank you!

I'm sorry i've finished the serums. I'm delighted to have had the opportunity to try them - I have sensitive skin and have had no adverse reactions. My neck was definitely better and my face was slightly clearer and brighter. Will buy them and try the rest of the range when they're on offer, a bit expensive to buy regularly. Would recommend the serums to others.

I have now finished the serum, it lasted just over 7 weeks. I found it very pleasant to use and together with my No 7 moisturiser my skin felt less dry and firmer. I have noticed an improvement in the pigmentation and the deeper lines. Overall I am pleased with the results and I think my skin looks fresher and healthier. I will use my Boots points to continue using the serum. Thank you for the opportunity to test this product.

moleswife Wed 11-Dec-13 19:10:07

A little extra time and a little extra usage and - guess what - I have noticed a little extra quality to the tone and smoothness of my skin; I've especially noticed this when I have forgotten to use the serum, like I did the other morning and my face felt tight and rough. I've still got some left - so it has been very economical - so I may just buy some when it runs out! Thanks for the opportunity to trial this product - I'd certainly recommend it.

I have put an order in for some for Christmas and I evidently look improved enough for a fried to have bought some to try. It's a lot to pay for two small tubes so beyond that I will rely on Boots points. I took the hint about a pea size blob, but one pea sized blob is not enough. Probably my neck has benefitted most from the night serum, being smoother and softer (according to my DGS. My skin tone is more even and the tinted moisturiser I use seems much more even and natural. Thanks Boots.

futuregran1 Wed 11-Dec-13 18:29:08

As posted in my last review, I really enjoyed using the serums and hope there will be many special offers so I can buy some, or win the prize!

My skin certainly felt moisturised when I used them

grandival Wed 11-Dec-13 17:57:29

My overall impressions are that my skin is both softer to feel in the sense it is moister, and firmer (an apparent contradiction?). It is rather fresher looking. Also I have found that I can now use a day and night cream to improve my skin, even though it's oily in places. This was a surprise as other creams have brought me out in spots.

I'm not sure that the wrinkles are any less. After all I am getting older (67) but they are certainly no worse. Yes, surprisingly again as I didn't really believe in skin creams, my skin does appear to have a definite glow now!

I can't honestly say that I know what is meant by "fragility" relating to my skin. It seems pretty tough. Recently I have found myself resting my head in my hands while I'm asleep and last week found two patches on my nose where my nails had made the skin bleed. All signs have now disappeared and healed over completely while I've been using the serums.

Pigmentation is definitely improved if by this is meant a more even skin tone.

I think the price is a little high for 8 weeks but then the results seem to justify it. I did not expect the tubes to last this long. So yes, I will continue to use it and would gladly recommend it to friends.

Thank you for the opportunity to try it.

tiller30 Wed 11-Dec-13 17:42:43

As an update to my full post on Nov 28th I have now finished both tubes.
My skin does feel better and firmer and I have definately benefited from taking part in the trial.
I will carry on using the product as long as vouchers and gifts from friends and family continue.
Thank you and Best Wishes to you and the other 99 participants !

maxdrans Wed 11-Dec-13 17:32:33

Following on from my post on 20 nov I still have some serum left perhaps I did not use enough at the beginning.I am delighted with the results and will now be using this serum instead of my more expensive Elizabeth grant skin care I am also considering buying no 7 day and night cream to compliment the serum thank you again boots for introducing it to me

moleswife Wed 11-Dec-13 17:03:56

A little more time and a little more usage and - do you know - I think I can see a little more effect!! Especially when I forget to use it, like the other morning, and it had a tight and dry feeling to my skin. I have also noticed a more even tone to my skin colour. It has been so good to have the opportunity to use this product - which I have to say, is still going strong - that I might even buy some whenever it runs out!!! Thank you.

ChrissyW Wed 11-Dec-13 16:41:26

As requested here is my last feedback review for No7 restore and renew serum...and I have to say that I still have some serum left in both tubes which has surprised and impressed me!
I have noticed that on one occasion I forgot to use the night serum and my skin was noticeably drier the following morning (and no I hadn't had one too many G&Ts the night before...if only!).
The daytime serum has helped to even out my skin tone and provided a good base for foundation.
All in all I have been impressed by the product and would recommend it to friends, but I will probably save up my Boots points to buy it with as I wouldn't normally spend this much on a face cream product.
It has been fun to be involved in the trial and has given my skin 8 weeks of pampering so thankyou!

Revis Wed 11-Dec-13 16:40:27

My tubes have at last run out and I'm really missing the serum. So, despite my comments previously, I will treat myself to a new set, especially if I can find them on offer. Half way through the testing I realised that the cleansing lotion I was using (not Boots!) was making my face very blotchy. Since I stopped using that I think the Renew & Restore serum has made my skin much firmer & brighter. I'm so glad I was given the chance to try them and I would certainly recommend them.

robbo Wed 11-Dec-13 16:33:44

Well I just loved it I thought the idea of two different colour tubes made it so easy to use. I have only just finished both tubes which was good value for money for 8 weeks.
I am not sure if there was a noticeable improvement in lines and wrinkles. however . I do think there is a difference in my skin. It feels hydrated and soft. I am lucky that I have been blessed with good skin for my age and I want to continue to look after it. The cost works out at less than £3 a week which is a small price to pay for something that does seem to have a beneficial effect.
Yes I would recommend it to a friend

Wen Wed 11-Dec-13 16:31:47

As an update to my previous comments I can say that the serum lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. The night cream in particular lasted almost five weeks; the day cream only four. I didn't think it had made a great deal of difference but now that it's finished my skin doesn't seem to look so good and feels drier and I'm missing it. I will definitely invest in the serum again when the Christmas spend is over.

Charleygirl Wed 11-Dec-13 16:27:26

I agree with many others, I was surprised that the tubes have lasted so long but the night one is almost empty.

I concentrated on the area below my eyes and the front of my neck because I did not think that the cream would last for long if I applied it to my entire face. No difference with eyes but my neck feels a lot smoother and softer. I have few wrinkles, no age spots and my skin is quite radiant. I liked the subtle perfume from each tube.

As I said previously, I thought that the tubes were too expensive and being sample packs, the original packs would be larger.

I could not afford to buy them but thanks for allowing me to take part in the trial.

Galen Wed 11-Dec-13 16:18:47

It's worked for me! Skin feels and looks better. I would recommend it highly

lyndyloo Wed 11-Dec-13 16:16:10

Pleased to have used the product. Noticed some improvement in my skin though not a great deal. Product ran out in the day serum before the eight weeks. Price is rather high for me so not sure if I would purchase it. Thank you for letting me be one of the testers

buffersmoll Wed 11-Dec-13 16:09:29

So pleased you asked me to participate.

Very pleased with performance. My skin is softer and lighter, even the rosacea is less red.

The cost is quite high for me but the benefits are clear to family and friends so perhaps for birthdays etc.,

I have changed my mind about the scent. It is light and delicate and
it was clear did not affect the rosacea because after some use my skin was much lighter altogether.

Well done No 7!!

bamba Wed 11-Dec-13 16:07:46

I'm glad we have had the chance to add more feedback at 8 weeks on. My skin is now certainly much smoother and firmer and my foundation seems to sit better on my skin. I originally said that I thought the serum was too expensive if it worked out at approx £25 per month but actually I have only just ran out of the serum after 8 weeks which makes it a much better buy. You literally only need a small amount to apply to the skin so it is quite economical. Well worth the effort!

tigerfangran Wed 11-Dec-13 15:54:31

As I previously reported some weeks ago I like the products but I wish I could say my wrinkles had lessened. My skin does feel firmer and is softer.I would like the price to be lower as being a pensioner it is rather expensive.Pressie time I think.I will try to continue to use as I like No7 products.

yayaq Wed 11-Dec-13 15:41:42

Found the product excellent and have bought some for gifts as it goes for quite a long way and therefore good value

Lines and wrinkles -considerable improvement
· Firmness again skin feels very much better
· Pigmentation- have blotchy complexion and this has faded quite a bit
· Fragility have very sensitive skin and was worried would stir up my roseacre but have not had any problems using it,
· Skin’s radiance generally better.
obviously cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear but this product is very effective on older skin thank you for letting me trial it.
