This thread is for the 100 gransnetters who have been chosen to trial No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum.
Here’s what Boots had to say, “No7 is the UK’s leading skincare brand. NEW No7 Restore& Renew Day & Night Serum is specifically formulated for more mature skin and actively targets the five key signs of ageing: wrinkles, lack of firmness, uneven pigmentation, fragility and dull skin. In clinical trials, after four weeks of use, both light-reflecting characteristics and levels of natural moisture return to similar levels of younger skin. New Restore & Renew Day & Night Serum is our fourth clinically proven serum meaning that we have a clinically proven serum for every stage of a woman’s life. We have had great results from our clinical trial and user testing, but we’d love to hear what gransnetters think about the product as well.”
We’d like you to use the product each day and night for at least four weeks, but preferably for the full eight weeks. Feel free to post your feedback on this thread as often as you like while using the serums.
When you're ready please answer the following questions:
Q1: What were your overall impressions of No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum?
Q2. After using Restore & Renew Day & Night serum for four weeks, how significantly has your skin changed in the following areas? If so please give details.
· Lines and wrinkles
· Firmness
· Pigmentation
· Fragility
· Skin’s radiance
Q3. The RRP for No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum is £24.95, do you think you'd be likely to buy the product again or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the serums to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Everyone who adds their feedback to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a No7 skincare bundle worth over £100.
Please note, Boots may use any comments posted on this thread in marketing, editorial and/or promotional material so please only post if you are happy with this.
Thanks and good luck,

Or even using mine.
I have only been using mone for about a wek so too soon to see any difference. I agree that it goes on well and feels pleasant. the different colours of tubes are a good idea.
I would like to be able to read the wording on the tubes, though. Their target market are likely to have less than 20/20 vision, and have to take a magnifying glass to it. A printed leaflet inside the box with the same information as on the tube, plus more detailed instructions, would be useful.
Confession - although I've been using the serum for two weeks I haven't had chance to look at others' feedback and feel a bit stupid
that I didn't realise it's supposed to be used as well as moisturiser! Duh! Anyway, perhaps it says a lot for the serum that my skin feels great - really smooth - so I can't wait to see what it's going to look like in another week with moisturiser as well!
I was quite surprised at the small size of the tubes - amazed that they've lasted so long really. Think I'll get 4 weeks out of them but definitely not 8. The different colours of the tubes is a bonus - saves searching for the glasses to check which one I'm supposed to be using. I'm not sure about the price - £24 seems quite a lot to pay for a month's supply, on top of day cream, night cream, eye cream, body lotion, hand cream, foot cream.... Takes a lot of effort to look this good!!!
This is the start of week three of using the Restore and Renew serums and I am pleased to report that the initial 'tight' feeling that I experienced on week one with the night serum has disappeared but as yet I can't see any visible difference to my skin. However the day serum has helped enormously to even out my (many) imperfections! I have overall been pleasantly surprised with the product and think it will be going onto my Christmas wish list...hint hint!
I think the main difference I have noticed is that, used in conjunction with the day and night creams, my skin has felt softer and looks a bit brighter. There is no difference in the pigmentation or firmness, but realistically only a face lift would do that. I think if a proper trial was to be conducted Boots should have given instructions on how to use it. What would be the point of trialling it under another brand of moisturiser with different ingredients and supposed actions. I can't help thinking, along with another participant, if this is not a marketing ploy. It has certainly made me buy the day and night creams.
I really didn't get on with it at all. My skin felt tight and occasionally slightly rough, and I stopped using it; I am sometimes complimented on my skin so I shall stick with the stuff that suits me.
There's one comment that won't be used!
I was using a much more expensive serum before. This one feels nicer, goes on easier and I think the skin does look a bit better and brighter and the fine wrinkles are less!
Considering the worries of the last couple of weeks with family, overwork and Greatnan, my skin is looking remarkably good!
In fact if I combine it with a primer, a bit of lipstick is all the makeup I need.
In fact, this week I was complimented by a much younger woman (I'm almost 69) on how nice my skin was!
What more could one want.
Yes I would recommend it.
I am on my third week now and definitely notice a difference in the feel of my skin although I haven't notices much difference in the lines. My skin tone is more even too.
However, I am still, mostly, only using the day cream as I have never got into a routine of cleansing and moisturising at night. I wear little make-up, rarely refresh it during the day and there is, invariably, nothing left by bedtime so I don't bother.
On that basis I wouldn't but the set but I would buy the day serum on it's own.
One week into the trial, I am enjoying using it, great product. I'm even beginning to think that £25 every 6 weeks or so is not bad VFM (value for money).
It's too soon to say whether it is making a difference, however I was told randomly at work by someone yesterday that my skin is looking good
.
on week 2, skin feels soft, can see slight improvement particularly neck area (this area I did not bother with much) oh it still has its lines but it is looking 'more moisturised'.
Like the feel of this product. Really hope it works!
Using sparingly to make it last.
I really like the idea of having different colour tubes for the day and night serums. I think they both smell rather nice and I don't find them overpowering at all. I am finding them very easy to apply, quickly absorbed too.
Two weeks into the trial I can notice a definite improvement to the fine lines which have started to appear around my mouth and eyes over the past 12 months.
I've been using the serums for a fortnight now. I was pleased there were different colours for day and night. I must admit I don't usually use a night cream but I probably will now I've developed the habit! My skin feels soft and the frown lines on my forehead have almost disappeared - I've still had reason to frown, so I think it's the serums working! Sometimes I think the creases under my eyes are fading, but it might be wishful thinking. Promising for half way through the test!
About 3 weeks into it and really the same comments are true - it's easily applied, goes into the skin well & is not at all greasy. The main area that appears to have improved is my neck which is nice. My face feels good rather than looks different. Maybe this will change in the next week or so.
Like others, I'm not sure that the serum will last much beyond the 4 weeks.
Hi all
In response to your concerns about the serum not lasting long enough, this is what Boots has to say:
"Please note, the Restore & Renew Day & Night Serum has a silky formulation which is designed to smooth over skin so that a small amount goes along way. Please use sparingly, roughly a pea-sized amount each time. It’s also useful to note that this isn’t a replacement for your day cream."
Week two of my testing and I am noticing that my skin does feel firmer. A dry patch on my cheek has also disappeared. Don't really like the strong cheap perfume smell but will keep using it for two more weeks (if it lasts that long)
Grannyknot:£35 at John Lewis
; didn't realise they were that expensive. Duvet covers definately a no no as I'm sure they would just slip off the bed. May treat myself to one pillow case just to see if it works [ie don't look so crumpled in the morning; me that is].
I'm on my 3rd week of using the serum and although it goes on nicely and my skin does feel softer I can't actually see any difference to the dry patch I have , the many 'freckles' and the wrinkles they just all look the same. I'll continue till I've used it all but I doubt I would go and buy any to be honest.
I have just finished my serums and they only lasted 2 weeks, therefore I was a little disappointed as I couldn't really judge the benefits. My moisturiser and night cream did glide on easier but no difference to the wrinkles. I have also developed a red rash on my face and perhaps this is due to these serums or not I do not know. This is the first Boots No 7 product I have not liked and will not buy but I will continue using the No 7 moisturiser, cleanser etc.
tegan I've looked at buying silk pillowcases but then think I couldn't be bothered because (a) expensive (b) you'd need several - one in the wash, one on the pillow etc and (c) what about matching sheets? (I couldn't really care less but husband gets twitchy if things don't match, he can't cope with 'eclectic') LOL.
One thought has occurred to me. Is it best to wait until the Night/Day Serum dries before putting the moisturiser on, as surely the moisturiser will dilute the serum?
Now into the second week of using both serums. I must say that my skin does feel nice and soft - even when I wake up first thing in the morning. I have not noticed any significant change to the appearance of my skin although it does seem to be a little brighter. I am looking for forward to seeing more results after the 4 week period.
Has anyone ever bought a silk pillow case; they're supposed to not dry your hair/skin out overnight. I've often meant to try one [although worried that I might slip off it
].
flower same here! I also have tiny* little crepey lines in the "hollow" of my cheek (but they're not hollow
) only on the side I sleep on, so that's what I'm keeping an eye on, for signs of improvement. *invisible to the naked eye says husband.
I'm getting the hang of exactly how much I need, so I am not using it "sparingly" because I am interested in how long it lasts if I use the proper amount so to speak. About a pea sized measure does for me.
I like the feel of it on my skin and it is not greasy or oily. Good product, I agree and I am glad of the chance to use it.
Two weeks in, almost, and I am loving the serum. It goes on smoothly and makes my moisturiser feels nicer when going on. My skin does feel smoother and the small lines, particularly on the side I do not sleep, are lessened. I tend to have slightly more lines on the side I sleep on.
I do not want the serum to run out. I do use serum and moisturiser every night as a rule (unfortunately not No 7) as I have found the cost limiting.
Thank you for the opportunity to try this wonderful product.
