The UK General Election will be taking place on May 7 2015. We'd like to gather the views of GNers on a variety of topics. Our survey is open to all UK GNers as well as those who are based overseas but able to vote in the UK.

Please find out more background and complete the survey by clicking here.

Add your details at the end and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one GNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice.

Thanks and good luck!

I would have liked to say that I would value a vote on proportional representation.

Done.....will we get the results of this survey?

FlicketyB Sat 28-Feb-15 18:36:11

Done - but anonymously, so I know I won't win the £100!

What bothers me about this survey and so many others on similar subjects is that just how all the things we want will be financed is never seriously and extensively discussed. Good care, good education, NHS etc etc costs money and not dibbly little bits from taxing the rich and mansion taxes.

I have just come back from Norway, one of the wealthiest countries in Europe and one where there is the most equality. The standard of public services there is high, as is the social support for individuals in need BUT income tax is high, for everyone, 25% VAT, 18% on food and some payment towards health care.

We always seem to want the benefits but are unprepared to pay for it.

Just in case anyone is worried the State Pension is not being abolished in 2016.

The thing that really bothers me is that all politicians seem to tell lies and can't be trusted.

Furthermore they all have there snouts in the trough so what can we do to make sure we vote for the best option. I certainly don't know confused

I hate the way that the current policies seem to be forcing a divide between old and young. Surely students, for example, should be entitled to free bus passes. I feel really embarrassed when a student pays whilst I am riding for free. And the £200 fuel allowance should be means tested! It's ridiculous.

Done it too !

I am extremely interested in the up and coming General Election. In fact, I am a voluntary Branch Secretary and Treasurer for a local political party and have also been nominated as our prospective Parliamentary candidate's Election Agent. I am also considering standing as a local councillor myself. The whole process of campaigning for an election is very time consuming but I would recommend getting involved in this area if that is your interest and inclination as it is a very exciting time at the moment.

Anne@GNHQ thank you! I'm very concerned about the state of the constitution, especially after the Scottish referendum. I'm also concerned about the House of Lords. Too many peers and the last 'reform' was a disaster. I'm concerned about local democracy and public engagement in politics. I ticked 'education' but my real concern is with the apparent lack of accountability in the present messy system. It affects all levels from nursery to HE. Can't help being a nerd!
