AnnGransnet (GNHQ) Thu 24-Mar-16 11:46:26

Here at GNHQ we're interested in finding out more about what our users think about the upcoming EU referendum. On the 23rd June 2016, there will be a referendum to decide whether the UK should remain a member of the European Union, or whether we should leave it.

This survey is open to all gransnetters who are eligible to vote in UK general elections. Everyone who completes the survey will be put into a prize draw where one gransnetter will win a £100 store voucher (winner can pick from our list of suppliers).

Here's the link: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/SF9TDW3

Thanks
GNHQ

I agree with carol49cat. In 1975 we voted on whether we entered the Common Market we were not at that time already a member. It was all to do with trade, nothing to do with the EU trying to make our rules and interfering with our laws. I voted in then as it made sense for British business but it is out now.

Hello and welcome Irishlady I hope you will enjoy posting more comments this really is a great site.

shirleyhick Mon 28-Mar-16 19:48:27

Survey all done. I too want OUT

Irishlady Mon 28-Mar-16 19:41:14

I signed up to Gransnet a few months ago but was always to shy to post anything. I feel so strongly about leaving the EU that I'm glad this is my first post, also a big hello to you all. smile

poshkitty Mon 28-Mar-16 19:00:56

Nah, not posh morethan, but I do have three posh kittys! ( I seemed to have left the S of kittys when I registered my username)

Thanks for your friendly welcome, I have read and enjoyed Gransnet forums for several months now and decided it was about time I had input of my own. Plucked up courage

I don't have Grandchildren, but I have a daughter and extended family including children, so hopefully this justifies my membership!! grin

superblue42 Mon 28-Mar-16 18:45:15

Done.Definitely out!

durhamjen Mon 28-Mar-16 17:56:36

I was wondering about UKIP, mcem.

morethan2 Mon 28-Mar-16 17:18:15

poshkitty welcome. are you 'posh' ? (You don't have to answer that I'm being friendly smile)

Ana Mon 28-Mar-16 16:56:06

Where has any racism been expressed? Surely you're not equating worry about immigrantion with being racist?

mcem Mon 28-Mar-16 16:31:24

As there seems to be a predominant tendency to a rather right-wing, verging on racist view from many of these new posters then that would depend on your own opinion!

Strugglinabit Mon 28-Mar-16 16:22:38

Is that a good or bad thing?

mcem Mon 28-Mar-16 16:06:22

Also opting to stay. The chance to complete a survey and say NO seems to be attracting lots of new names!

Maggiemaybe Mon 28-Mar-16 15:58:11

There's a lot of shouting and chanting going on today - I feel a headache coming on grin

I've done the survey and I'll be voting to stay in.

babcia Mon 28-Mar-16 15:31:10

I couldn't agree more boo2410 - definitely out.

Lucretia Mon 28-Mar-16 15:27:46

I want OUT. How can anyone with any sense want remote rule by those in power in Brussels, lording it over our judges and making rules that we have to live by and charging us plenty with their extortionate salaries and expenses to do so. DEFINITELY OUT FOR ME!

poshkitty Mon 28-Mar-16 15:21:58

Done!

My first post on Gransnet.

morethan2 Mon 28-Mar-16 14:53:01

I've done it and signed up for updates on your advice. durhamjen I hope it is unbiased. I also wish I was a bit brighter and understood the full details. I think I just don't trust any of our politicians anymore.

looseloafers Mon 28-Mar-16 14:29:22

Done. Out out out

durhamjen Mon 28-Mar-16 14:29:12

Sorry, for some reason that was just the map.

Some people on here could look at Full Fact, to find out as much information as possible before they make up their minds.
They are fact checking all claims from both sides.
They are independent, and even the Tory government uses their factfinds about various subjects.

Very sad, really, all these people saying that migrants can come in regardless. If that was the case, why are there 4000 sitting at Calais still trying to get in?

If we come out of Europe, the border will very likely be in Kent, and it will be easier for the refugees to get in. No reason for the French to allow our border control to be in France then.

Not that I mind about that. I welcome refugees.

Liaise Mon 28-Mar-16 14:07:55

Done and leave.

earnshaw Mon 28-Mar-16 12:59:00

where do I go to do the survey

oldkranky Mon 28-Mar-16 12:36:34

Out Out Out
I want to spend my remaining days in a
Democracy not an EU Dictatorship!

Strugglinabit Mon 28-Mar-16 12:14:37

I also want out - although I am sure the EU/Government response would be the same as happened in Ireland -"You voters didn't give the answer we wanted by wanting out, so we'll keep asking until you do..."
As one of the biggest contributors (and then so grateful to get a small portion returned!) it makes no economic sense to belong to this wasteful, unaccountable bureaucratic club.
Many lives lost in the last war were fighting for our country, not wanting to be "ruled" by Germany, which appears how things are now evolving. Charity begins at home and we cannot solve the problems of the world, the needs in this country need to be addressed first. Being patriotic is not racist.
