AnnGransnet (GNHQ) Thu 24-Mar-16 11:46:26

Here at GNHQ we're interested in finding out more about what our users think about the upcoming EU referendum. On the 23rd June 2016, there will be a referendum to decide whether the UK should remain a member of the European Union, or whether we should leave it.

This survey is open to all gransnetters who are eligible to vote in UK general elections. Everyone who completes the survey will be put into a prize draw where one gransnetter will win a £100 store voucher (winner can pick from our list of suppliers).

Here's the link: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/SF9TDW3

Thanks
GNHQ

Done. Voted out. Everything said about what will happen if we leave is speculation but I know what it is like to be in it and I don't like it. The question about voting to stay in the EU in 1975 is incorrect as I voted to stay in the European Economic Community which was about trade.

Done. Stay

done - wanted to come out in 1975 [although that was the common market] and haven't changed my mind since. we're being bled dry by the eu and stacked to the gills with immigrants - we should be looking after our british citizens - old, disabled and young - before anyone else.
the money which goes to the eu [and overseas aid but that's another story] and immigrants would go a very long way to support our own .......... charity begins at home they say - britain is our home so that's where we should be looking.
btw - i'm not bothered about amazon - i buy wherever i can get a decent price and they've got decent prices.

Done. I agree absolutely with Grandma14.

Grandma14 Mon 28-Mar-16 11:10:45

I'm all for leaving the EU and getting back to where we are governed by our own Government and not by bureaucratic EU rules and regulations.

Done -OUT.
Until the EU HAS PROPER DEMOCRATIC elections. We should have had a vote when we went from BEING JUST TRADING PARTNERS to the Ever Closer Union scenario - the forerunner of the proposed republic of europe.

Nico97 Mon 28-Mar-16 10:34:28

Out, out, out ! The sooner this country regains its own controls the better. No more accountability to Europe, just ourselves. Trading will always carry on because the money people will ensure it does so threatening that we will suffer financially is, I think, just scaremongering.

I've done the survey but in spite of keeping up to date with the referendum news I still have no clear understanding of what is best for the UK. I'm hoping that it will become clear before I walk into the polling booth in June. Perhaps the contributors on Gransnet will be more help than the politicians joggling for position!

VOTE to STAY IN!
The more we are connected with other communities and have to work with them the less likely are we to wage war on them. WARS MUST BE STOPPED! The present migration from Syria is due to open war-fare and the troubles in Africa are not helped with internal strife.
All my life, and way back in the late 1800s, members of my family have worked and lived in Europe. Married Europeans- French, German, Swiss, Belgian, Spanish. We are Europeans.

MissW52 Mon 28-Mar-16 09:53:13

I agree with everything you say.
The UK would be far safer if we left the EU. at present every migrant that arrives at an EU country can come to the UK freely, we know nothing about who they are & where they come from!! We must remember that ISIS stated that they were sending their soldiers into the EU by having them pose as migrants!!

Re:Sweden, women from there are actually dying their hair to try & stop advances from migrant men & the elderly won't go out in the evening for fear of being mugged.Germany is having problems with migrants & it was Angela Merkel that gave them access!! Who made her head honcho of the EU??

Another reason why we should leave the EU is how illegal immigrants can come to the UK, break the law & when they are sentenced, they appeal through the EU courts & have the sentence UK gave them thrown out!!

Britain has to bow down to the EU demands & I believe the UK pays more into the EU than some other countries, I think each country should pay the same.

UK fishermen are having to stand by & let foreign vessels in to UK waters to fish & they have higher quotas that the UK vessels, how can this be fair?

We are slowly becoming a minority in our own country.Which I find quite scary.

Done. Is this the way to spend a Bank Holiday??

boo2410 Mon 28-Mar-16 09:38:44

Survey done. I want out too, we are being bled dry by immigration and migrants claiming benefits, using our NHS etc. We must control our borders with even more vigilance, especially with the wave of terrorism now sweeping through Europe and also the rest of the world.

MissW52 Mon 28-Mar-16 09:32:12

I have done your survey.

carol49cat Mon 28-Mar-16 09:30:42

Question 14 in the survey is wrong. The 1975 vote concerned the Common Market, there was no "EU" at that time and there was no suggestion that the institution would head towards a federal Europe under unelected officials. I would still be in favour of a Common Market but have no wish to be part of a federal Europe so I will be voting OUT.

Before you vote think of others. There are many in Europe who are scared if we leave.
