mattress protectors - advice please!

You need a Kylie sheet. These are just fabulous no nasty plastic.
I had one and cut it down for night time toilet training.

A fleece in between the mattress and the sheet will act as a barrier.

People use fleece as the outer layer of babies nappies, it is sort of breathable plastic so doesnt wick the moisture through

John Lewis have a very good one,not noisy or 'plasticky' and washable.can get delivered,or delivered to a branch of waitrose.

I’ve had similar waterproof covers with terry towel type top from Dunelm. I used under other sheets.

Every bed in our house has one and they are not uncomfortable at all . Get good quality ones to be sure.

Yes Susan56, I've done just the same. The very youngest GC used to have accidents and this saved the mattress. Now the eldest is in puberty it's saving the mattress again as she can often "flood" in the night. I got mine from Dunelm for around the same price.

I did find when I was buying incontinence wear, it was much more expensive from the care shop than online.
I would not have thought of Asda, good advice.

We have just bought the waterproof mattress cover with towelling top for DGD’s bed.We then put another plain mattress protector on top.It is absolutely fine,very comfortable,and not noisy.We got the Asda own brand one which was £12 for double size.

I can add only that if you have not a proper waterproof mattress cover, a pure wool blanket, especially if it has gone felted, can sop up a lot of fluid before it feels wet.

When my H was at home with the problems he had I got mattress protectors from a care supplier, it is called Millercare here, I don’t know if they are national but we have a shop here.
It was soft and topped in a fine towelling material, it was excellent.
Went in the washing machine and for the time I used them stayed soft.
The single size cost about £22 and was vat free.

How old are these children? If they are still having accidents then why not use nappy pants when they stay with you.

Myself and OH went on holiday and there was a waterproof mattress protector on the bed.
It was noisy and uncomfortable.
Took it of and slept much better.
